Chris Hayes blew off MSNBC
from his latest tweet:

"OK: I'm not filling in on Countdown tonight because I didn't feel comfortable doing it given the circumstances."

THAT is INTEGRITY!

82. We're all half way there already
I believe that if Dubya hadn't clamped down on Cheney in the last 3 years or so he (Cheney) would have gone ahead with his planned coup. I may be reading some of the facts wrong but I believe that Cheney was on the cusp of staging a coup. If I am right, Dubya actually saved America by shutting Cheney down in the waning years of his administration. Think on that for a minute...

Now the psycho right has the House and a good head of steam for 2012. The same players who would have helped Cheney overthrow the government are still in place today. The fascist coup is coming. All the signs point to it as far as I can tell. They control the media, they control the money supply, they control the elections now (apparently), they control the agenda. Time is the only variable: when will they set the ball rolling.

Remember people, when the fascists make their move we must gather our arms and 2nd Amendment rights and head to the congress and the white house to protect our Democracy! The psychos will have Generals and soldiers on their side so we cannot expect a Slurpy Summit. Lock hands and lock and load to protect our elected leaders... Also protect your state gov't offices if you can but priority one is to protect the federal government and "the button" must stay out of right wing hands. I encourage all patriots to learn what they have to know in the coming fight against fascism. You may be the last line of defense.

Gulag America is one psycho right winger away from happening. Their slogan for you and your children will be: Arbeit Macht Frei.

I think you are right about bush reigning in cheney in his second term.

Of all the people in bush's administration who were , to me , fascist...I liked bush the best.He had an innocent quality at times that I never saw in cheney , rumsfield and the rest.

93. Only time will tell if I am right or I am wrong
I will go to my grave firmly believing that Cheney was one phone call away from starting a fascist coup in America. I believe that if Bush had kept quiet or gone along, the country would have been a far different place today. Cheney, in my view, is evil incarnate.

94. Tienanmen square, the 1960s peace marches, Ghandi, etc.
You have the power of persuasion. When each of those young soldiers stand there facing you and the psycho generals are telling them to shoot a fellow American, he or she will look you in the eye. It is up to you to reach out to him or her and tell him we are brothers, that we both know who the real enemies of America are, ask them to stand with you against tyranny.

But that is a personal choice for you. If you don't mind the fascists staging a military coup and killing all who have opposed them in their Kristallnacht reign of terror then feel free to stay at home. There will be another patriot who will stand in your place to protect the President and the Congress, to protect our Democracy.

Make no mistake, if guys like Cheney are pulling the strings the blood will flow. We need only to swing the tide of victory to the side of Democracy, to the side of the people.

24. I have no idea what you are talking about.
The post you responded to made a claim that Griffen withdrew his offer to Hayes because of Hayes' political donations.

I respond that there is no evidence of this. (In fact, Hayes tweets the opposite: "My not hosting tonight has *nothing* to do with several donations I made to two friends *before* I ever signed an MSNBC contract ")

And you respond with nonsense.

Edited on Fri Nov-05-10 06:24 PM by Luminous Animal
because of Hayes' political donations (which Hayes directly refutes and is, by they way, the topic that I am discussing and nobody has provided me with one.

If you have any source that supports the accusation that Griffen withdrew the offer to Hayes because of politics, please post it.

If you want to put forward the theory that Olbermann was suspended because of the Comcast deal then go ahead but that is not what I was discussing and that is why your answer TO ME is nonsense.

34. Uh no.
Because she says this, "I am betting that is cover from Griffin" which refers to the unsubstantiated accusation that Griffin withdrew his offer to Hayes. Which leads me to think that she is taking an un-sourced rumor at face value and drawing conclusion and in the process propelling totally false information.

I do understand her point about Comcast but it has nothing to do with me challenging people to stick to the truth of Hayes' refusal to stand in for Olbermann and if there is any evidence otherwise, to provide it.

Comcast is a publicly traded company. It's owned by shareholders. And Fox doesn't own the Wall Street Journal, they're both owned by NewsCorp.

74. NewsCorp vs. Comcast
founded by Rupert Murdoch he is still their Chairman and CEO (http://www.newscorp.com/management/board.html)

FOX and WSJ - both owned by Murdock. FOX is where low information folks get their news, while old school republicans follow the WSJ. I also read the WSJ quite often - it's the best way to know what they (the capitalists) are up to.

Ralph J. Roberts founded Comcast (http://www.comcast.com/corporate/about/pressroom/corporateoverview/corporateexecutives/ralphroberts.html). His son Brian is currently running the company (http://www.comcast.com/corporate/about/pressroom/corporateoverview/corporateexecutives/brianroberts.html). The only reference I find to politics in his bio is "was a founding co-chair of Philadelphia 2000, the nonpartisan host committee for the 2000 Republican National Convention".

About Comcast owning 51% of NBC (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/34247302/ns/business-media_biz/)

If anything it looks like Brian Roberts would like to build the same kind of empire Rupert Murdoch already has. I doubt they are working together on anything.

68. Did anyone else know that Chris's wife works for the Obama administration?
I'm glad Chris stood up to TPTB at MSNBC. Makes me like him even more.

71. Being cynical
He's not an MSNBC employee so he won't lose his job over it. Still, he's probably blacklisted from that network now, so it is still a significant sacrifice.

I've always like that guy.

He not only has character, it took guts too to say it publicly.

77. boycott, they only understand ratings
especially in that prime time slot; sponsors will quit or demand reduced rates.

80. I have already made that decision.
I will turn the channel for the 8pm-9pm/11pm-12midnight time slots until Keith is back in place.

76. He stood his ground better than Rachel and I'm impressed.
I normally have considered him a bit on the shy side. Oh did he give MSNBCFOX a new one.

I checked for half a second to see who was hosting Countdown, have no idea who he is. Must have been hard to find a host. Now if Keith was working for NBC News it might be different. Ie Juan Williams not checking to see where he dropped a ball. But Keith doesn't. He's on MSNBC.

Now the right thinks the channel is a joke. Obvious now. Before hand it was a given, but we really have no way to combat their BS now :(

88. Solidarity
I wondered if the MSNBC Prime Time Line up would have displayed some solidarity and collective bargaining by walking off their shows on Friday in support of Keith. My viewpoint is that Lawrence and Rachel got their shows in part due to the generosity of Keith giving them exposure and guest hosting on his show.

The nice thing about rules in America and the American workplace is that the rules are usually selectively enforced. If you like somebody, you look the other way at their infractions. If you have a beef with an employee, you enforce all the rules to the letter and persecute the selected person for doing something that probably everybody else has done at one time or another.

I wonder if Rachel and Lawrence had staged a "walkout", if there would even be a liberal prime time line up on MSNBC next week? Management and the ruling class do not like to be made to look like fools with a defiant work force!

I hope Keith reviews all the rules that apply to him and does not jeopardize his "shining beacon of hope for Democracy show" for risk of braking them again some time in the future.
