WHY Are members of the Progressive Caucus Supporting Hoyer?
http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2010/11/progressives-for-steny-liberal-members-line-up-for-moderate-minority-whip.php?ref=fpa">According to Talking Points Memo,
A number of House progressives -- members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, even -- are circling their wagons around Hoyer, hoping to balance the leadership ticket next year.

In a "Dear Colleague" letter to Democratic members, progressive Rep. Jared Polis (D-CO) made the pitch for Hoyer.

"I believe that it is in the best interests of our Caucus to keep Majority Leader Hoyer as a member of our Democratic leadership team--a team that helped Democrats pass a range of landmark legislation," Polis wrote. "Keeping Steny Hoyer in leadership will help to unify our Caucus and ensure that House Democrats hit the ground running in the new Congress."
TPM also says that Hoyer has helped lots of Democrats with money, etc., too. But seriously? We could have Clyburn, who's a real fighter (and a much better face for the party), and people are willing to go with Hoyer?

1. I' m no friend of Hoyer, but Clyburn wanted to pass the healthcare legislation piece meal.
and has not been a very successful whip, particularly when it came to get a vote on these tax cuts. I am not sure I see the attraction.

May be we should try somebody else.

2. Check out Hoyer's voting record - he is a very reliable vote!
I think some of us get put off by some of his public stmts (or manner) - I know I did.

Then I researched his voting record - he is firmly in our corner (and has been his whole career).

4. I definitely like Clyburn a lot better than Hoyer.
Pelosis Clyburn would be a better tag team than one with Hoyer if only two can be there.
