Tucker Carlson Posed as Olbermann in Nasty Emails
Edited on Tue Nov-09-10 10:08 PM by tblue37
This article indicates that Tucker Carlson probably pretended to be KO and sent incendiary emails to make KO look bad:
<snip>

On Tuesday afternoon, a set of emails surfaced on the Philadelphia news site Phawker. Phawker said that the emails showed the "100% for real" correspondence between Olbermann and Philadelphia Daily News columnist Stu Bykofsky over the weekend. In the emails, "Olbermann" talks about his boss, MSNBC President Phil Griffin, in hyperbolic, insulting terms.

In one email, "Olbermann" says that Griffin is "not my boss (thank god), nor is he intellectually qualified to be...I'll be anchoring on election night 2012, long after Phil Griffin has moved on to a job for which he's actually qualified, perhaps on QVC."

In another, "Olbermann" writes that "I could have Phil Griffin fired tomorrow if I felt like it, trust me. And if he keeps yapping about me in public, I may. For the moment, however, keeping Phil around is like having a drunk chimp in the office -- more amusing than threatening."

The incendiary emails seemed too good to be true -- and, as it turns out, they were. The emails from "Olbermann" came from keith@keitholbermann.com. That's an address that is not owned by Olbermann, but by Tucker Carlson, conservative pundit and editor of the Daily Caller website. In July, Carlson announced that he had purchased the domain name KeithOlbermann.com, and told Politico that people could email him at Keith@KeithOlbermann.com -- the same address that the emails to Bykofsky came from.

What a slimy little sneak! But it is typical of Republicans like Carlson, O'Keefe, and Breitbart, isn't it?

13. Republicans love forgeries.
Ever noticed how many forgeries in the BushCo era? Val Plame got targeted because her husband had the nerve to call a forged document a forgery, basically. All the doctored up ACORN tapes -- and KKKarl was all over that forged TANG document that they then outed to make the truth of GWB's service or lack of a non-issue. They are phony, unethical and criminal-minded.

And then Bugman DeLay and now Bristol Palin--and her mama cosntantly getting free face time on the show. There was also that country singer--Sarah soemthing--who also could not dance, but who was kept on by all the right wigners voting for ehr ebcause she is a Christian Republican.

Hmmmm. It does seem that DWTS has a rather right wing agenda, doesn't it? But all the right wingers they bring on dance like sticks.

98. I think it's "reality" tv in general that's right-leaning
Bread & Circuses³.

Think about it.. a REAL tv drama (even comedy) requires some concentration, some attention to detail, It requires an ability to follow-along, to catch the cultural/historical references woven into the dialog.

"Reality" tv usually requires NONE of that. It's just voyeurism-writ-large. It's all about watching "real people" doing stupid/quasi-dangerous things and engaging in "play-fighting".

This is all the stuff that most people used to do as children (before structured daycare systems forced the kids to shut up, sit down & watch tv until Mom picked them up).

Throw in money, and is it any wonder that Jerry Springer's format of under-educated, lower class people publicly humiliating themselves for a few bucks, would be with us still...only bigger & "badder"?

And NOW, people get to give the "contestants" a :thumbsdown: without having everyone see them do it.. Instead of a trap door opening & lions gobbling up the one "voted off", the cell phone vigilantes just get them sent home.

Historically, staging entertainment as "contests" is not new, and often accompanies hard times. During the Depression, people did all sorts of stupid things for money, and there were contests for everything.. Winning a contest was about the ONLY way an ordinary person could ever hope to move beyond their dreary life.

The insidious thing about tv today, is that these shows are also CHEAP to produce, and they also undercut the many union-workers still around in the entertainment field. ..

No need for writers to churn out scripts
No need for actors (real actors)

Libel Grudge Match Begins! Blumenthal vs. Matt Drudge

Mr. Blumenthal's lawyers want to depose Mr. Fund and the Ledeens in an effort to ferret out the source of Mr. Drudge's August 1997 item in his gossip Web site The Drudge Report that Mr. Blumenthal beat his wife-a charge Mr. Drudge sourced to at least one "influential Republican" and retracted shortly after it appeared. In the subpoenas, Mr. Blumenthal's lawyers request "any and all documents" relating to Mr. Blumenthal, Mr. Drudge, former ambassador Richard Carlson and his son, Weekly Standard writer Tucker Carlson, the Ledeens and former American Spectator writer David Brock. "If you need a road map," the Journal editorial notes, "this is Mr. Blumenthal's enemies list, except that onetime enemy David Brock has apparently switched camp to become an ally."

70. I assume Tucker Carlson is done forever, right?
He tried to impersonate and embarrass Keith Olbermann?

Isn't that illegal?

Was Carlson expecting that everyone would assume it was
Olbermann and get Keith in trouble?

I'd put this right up there with that freelancer who wrote for
the New York Times Magazine, who was outed for making up stories
out of whole cloth.

Please tell me this isn't going to be a non-news story?

This is quite scandalous, and a big deal.

From Wiki

A lawsuit, or "suit in law", is a civil action brought before a court of law in which a plaintiff, a party who claims to have received damages from a defendant's actions,
seeks a legal or equitable remedy. The defendant is required to respond to the plaintiff's complaint. If the plaintiff is successful, judgment will be given in the plaintiff's
favor, and a range of court orders may be issued to enforce a right, award damages, or impose an injunction to prevent an act or compel an act. A declaratory judgment
may be issued to prevent future legal disputes.

A lawsuit may involve dispute resolution of private law issues between individuals, business entities or non-profit organizations. A lawsuit may also enable the state to be
treated as if it were a private party in a civil case, as plaintiff or defendant regarding an injury, or may provide the state with a civil cause of action to enforce certain laws.

and he is probably right. I just wish KO woul sue his pants off--and that some sort of criminal charges could be filed. It seems that what he did must be illegal, too.

Some people on this thread say it's no big deal and we shouldn't waste time pursuing these creeps when we catch them, but that is why they feel so empowered to keep doing such things--because there is never any price to pay!
