Career Politicians...

...are bad for this country.

And they are bad for the Democratic Party.

I can recall when Congressmen made $35,000 per year. They never expected to become millionaires. They worked to create a larger middle class and a better America.

Now, they are making about $170,000 per year and many of them are millionaires or are becoming millionaires - working as public servants. Something is wrong with this picture.

It is no longer about public service with many of these folks. It is about their careers. It is about making money and feathering their nests. It seems the only time they leave Congress is when they get a high-paying job with one of their lobbyists.

But, it pollutes the Democratic Party and rots its soul. They all become tax-cutters and small government proponents. They rail against the "radical left". In other words, they become Republicans. And we, Democrats, are not represented as we should be.
