Buy a truck, get a free Kalashnikov: Florida recession antidote

Washington/New York, Nov 13 (DPA) Just in time for the holidays, a Florida car dealer is offering a free Kalashnikov automatic rifle to new truck buyers.

The month-long promotion was kicked off in honour of this week's US Veterans' Day by Nations Trucks in Florida's Seminole County, the Orlando-based TV Channel 13 reported Friday.

Sales manager Nick Ginetta, keen on boosting sales, said he chose the AK-47 rifle to provoke controversy, get attention and make a statetment about the US constitutional right to own guns

2. LOL...Ya gotta love Floridians.
If it ain't a Pastor trying to spark a controversy, it's a car dealer trying to give you the means to do so.

4. Yet another example of media inaccuracy when it comes to guns (and most everything else)
It will not be a Kalashnikov "automatic" rifle. It will be semi-automatic.

5. So buy a car built in China
and get a gun built in Russia that is used to shoot at American troops? How un-american.

6. A real AK-47 costs about $20,000.00
And they are very hard to find here in the US as importation of such weapons was outlawed by the Gun Control Act of 1968 and the Hughes Amendment banned a civilian from ownership or transfer rights of any fully automatic weapon, such as an AK-47, which was not registered as of May 19, 1986. The Hughes Amendment effectively outlawed domestic production of AK-47s.
