DA on Lawrence O'Donnell's show carries metal BOR to trigger security.
Edited on Thu Nov-18-10 11:17 PM by napi21
I think it's a great idea. The DA said he carries his metal Bill of Rights in his pocket to deliberately trigger the security alarm, just so he can pull it out and say to the TSA agent "Oh I'm sorry it's my rights,, here take 'em." He even admitted that it was only theater, but good theater!

If you're interested in one ike it, here's a link.

It's $4.99 and I think it's worth it just for the self satisfaction.

2. I think Penn & Teller came up with that idea a few years ago
Nice to see someone actually went and did it.

9. Their movie is now available on DVD
It has the whole airport scanner bit in it, too... warnerarchive.com I think. "Penn and Teller Get Killed"

It holds up pretty well, but it's just crazy to see how young they look and how thin Penn was back then.

4. I think it is a silly idea. They are running the risk of being arrested
for caring out what amounts to a hoax. It's never a good idea to play games with authority figures.

5. Oh come on...
I fly every week and the agents aren't going to arrest someone for something like this.

7. Maybe so, maybe not. But, the little joke about "take my rights"
just doesn't seem worth the risk. To each his own.

8. But it is okay for authority figures to play games with the American people?
Edited on Fri Nov-19-10 11:00 AM by Rex

10. I didn't say that it was OK for authority figures to "play games" with
the American people. I said that in light of the realities, it didn't seem worth the risk to play the joke on the TSA. Help yourself if you want to do that.

Also, exactly what did you mean by "nice try"? I wasn't trying anything. I was simply evaluating the possible outcomes of joking with the TSA.

13. The "authority figures" are already here in case no one has noticed.
Try pulling some kind of protest "prank" on most any metro area policeman and find what happens.

Personally, I don't care how many people play the "take my rights" card. It just doesn't seem worth
either being disallowed to fly or worse, arrested just for the satisfaction of "telling off" the TSA.

16. so we're just gonna sit down and shut up?
no way, no how.

Imho....this makes the terrorists stronger, they are winning the war. Look how scared they have us.

It's bullshit. If I ever fly again, I will make my voice heard if I have to go through one of those damn things. Pat-downs? I'm ok with that. I have to have one if I go to a concert. Fine. I am fully against those damn scanners though.

18. No. I think the TSA stuff is not helping security. But, I don't see the
little metal sheet with the BOR as making a statement that will accomplish anything. nt

19. if everybody who was against this type of security
started protesting in this form or another, it's going to gain media attention. The more media attention, the better since our representatives don't listen to us when we contact them privately. At least mine don't.

14. And your chances of getting away with the protest are favorable.
On the other hand, you might miss your flight and/or have to hire a lawyer to defend you.

15. Also a possibility
But, after everyone's rights are restored and respected once again, I won't ask that you thank me personally or kneel before me to kiss my ring. Just doing my duty as a good citizen of a constitutional republic. A missed plane flight is a small price to pay.

17. I swear he was introduced as a County DA and Keith even asked him
if he planned on filingcharges against the TSA. He said let's wait & see what happens. There was also another guy in a small screen directly above the DA Keith was talking to and the second guy was wavig his metal BOR card and did have something to say at the end of the interview.
