Does anyone realize you can bypass security by flying in from a small airport?
Edited on Mon Nov-22-10 08:29 PM by Desertrose
I can catch a flight from (XXX) to PHX and am already behind security when I arrive for my connecting flight. The security at (XXX) airport is minimal - no scanners or patdowns.

So how ridiculous is all this scanning & groping when it is not that difficult to get around this whole mess??

How safe are we after this dog & pony show of **security procedures**?

Does anyone really still believe this isn't all about intimidation and seeing just how far we can be pushed?

Just my 2¢.

5. Coming to a small airport near you...
I believe TSA has already ordered 500 more scanners to expand to even more airports.

14. security "theater" - same as always. DC had humvee tanks and missile launchers
and men with rifles in amongst the cherry trees while Amtrak had NO security along its lines - even where it passed chemical or gas storage...

7. to be fair, I'm doing just that, but then I have to reverse the trip and come home....

Outbound, Sacramento to Atlanta, no scanners (but pat-downs for "chosen" passengers, as I understand it). But then back inbound, Atlanta to Sac. You bet they'll be scanning in Atlanta.

The only way to make the small airport exception work is to terminate both ends of the journey at a small, regional airport. And I'll bet a lot of them are doing occasional pat-downs anyway because they lack the expensive back-scatter scanners. The extra cost of adding the regional to the trip WOULD have the added effect of reducing traffic, LOL.

8. I prefer Islip to JFK
tiny in comparison and more in and out in a flash. However, Jet Blue doesn't fly into it and SW is more expensive.

9. Yeah
Where I'm at in Laramie, I can get on and hop to DIA...it just about doubles the price of a roundtrip ticket from Denver to where ever I was going. Totally worth it. :sarcasm: :hi:
