Why is everyone so negative?
It’s not like the current bill is more toothless than the previous bill. If Bush signs the minimum wage bill in return the congress passing an Iraqi spending bill with more manageable toothless Iraqi benchmarks than the previous toothless withdraw dates, then to me this is not the huge political loss ppl make it out to be. It is a decent political deal, given the time tables that are passable in the current congress are not mandatory. At the same time for the first time since the start of the war, ending the war is openly being discussed by the government. The Democrats are having open oversight hearings that are bringing to light just how corrupt this current presidency is. Now should you be pissed off? Yeah I think so. I think this only works to help end the war, if you keep the pressure on. There is clearly still many Dems in congress that need to get pass their personal tipping point, and more importantly there is basically the whole Republican membership that has yet to grasp the American ppl want the war over. I’m not so much disappointed in the present as curious as to if this is a legitimate building block to finally bringing the occupation to an end. I am mad the occupation will continue, but that anger is still mostly directed at BushCo and the Republican congress members that refuse to discus the reality of this occupation.

4. I'm happy everybody's pissed off.
Everybody knows there have been unsavory elements in the Democratic party, and not just Lieberman, but people haven't been angry enough to really talk about it.

After the vote tonight, we'll be able to figure out who the good guys are, who the bad guys are, and do something about it.

11. So, John:
Do you counsel we approve of, and support things that not only we don't like, but we did not vote for?

If the dems do not heed the voices of the people that voted for them, then they deserve to lose. Get wiped from the face of the earth, in fact.

9. 80% of the people wanted the minimum wage to be increased, this was no bargin
There are no timetables or milestones in this bill. This is another blank check which has NO ACCOUNTABILITY where the money will be used

In 2 years when nothing has changed except more people are dead, and more troops are there, how will they justify it?
