Where have all the liberals gone?

One of the conservative screeds has been that the liberals/progressives/Democrats have not been protesting the TSA (I've got the real meaning of the acronym) peep & grope show. Y'know, like, if this had happened under bush "they'd" be screaming bloody murder. Or, this is so different than the Patriot Act. Etc. Their proof? Salon, HuffPo, etc. are doing all caps headlines.

Of course, this isn't true. All we have to do is point them to DU. :toast:

Still, I think it would be a good idea to point them to liberal commentators who have been loud and long about this. Any quick references/urls? Rachel? Keith? Print guys like Krugman?

thanks

1. Under pressure, the government rescinds the new TSA policies....
If nothing happens, then great.

BUT... if something DOES happen, what do you think will happen in 2012??? An RW extremist will be elected president. Then the death of America as we (older than 40 years old) knew it will commence.

We're on a razor's edge here. The alternative to the pat-downs and body scans will be dramatically more intrusive that anything the TSA is doing now.

4. It's a lose-lose situation.
I don't think any minds will be changed even if there are no big problems during the holiday travel season.

5. What happens if we go through this bullshit and have an attack?
I doubt the reaction is going to be good and these procedures are no guarantee.

Fearful, corporate nanny staters will not rest until we go on the plane stripped, with every hair removed after cavity searches and the Constitution is rendered so much shit stained toilet paper in the sewer.

There is no way to be 100% safe and maintain a free society. In fact, any review of history would inform most that even a closed society is far from a promise of 100% safety and over time becomes less safe than a free society as the enemies mount with the passing of the days.

The reality is there always has been some level of risk to drawing breath from some quarter or another.

We are considerably safer than most that have come before us and are soft, sheep like, and totally chickenshit with no value whatsoever on freedom and self determination.

The real alternative is to fucking grow up and realize we live in a real and physical world where there are threats who are trying to herd us into a place where the fear of threat causes us to react in a way that destroys our free and open society moving us to a more authoritarian existence as they desire. While it may result in a different appropriate label rather than say Sharia, it will still be in a controlled state.

2. neither side seems to like the groping.. but the "false equivelent" msnbc refuses to admit this.

for the past few days they have been proving stewarts point.
(which does not make me happy)

they are bending over backwards to support groping, simply because the rightwing is against it and in this case they are correct.
kinda sad to watch
