Obviously straight Marines are rapists and expect gay Marines to be the same;
"a staff sergeant who left the Marine Corps in 2008, said he would have been uncomfortable having an openly gay man in the Marine unit he led. His Marines often spent the night in their armored vehicle, he said, changing their clothes and sleeping within inches of each other."

Obviously straight Marines are incapable of obeying orders and expect gay Marines to be the same.

"I just think it would complicate things," said Trentham, 24, of Sevierville, Tenn. "If you have two homosexuals in a unit, they could have a relationship and if they broke it off, is that going to cause the mission to fail because they are having problems?"

If I were young enough to consider a career in the military I would have to be fairly stupid to join the Marines.

1. Unrec for your hyperbole and broad brush smear of your thread title

It is one thing to discuss homophobia and condemn it.

But claiming that marines are "obviously rapists" is something else.

3. I think you're missing the point....

the op is pointing out that just because one is gay, does not mean one is void of morals, which is what one of the straight marines seems to be suggesting.

on edit...
I would like to add that the OP should have used the original title to the article, and not make one up.

2. The Marines are not here to provide a nurturing environment for ones sexuality...

They exist to execute the orders of the Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. military. They are an all volunteer organization, and all who volunteer are informed up front that they will be expected to sacrifice their individual rights in order to operate as an effective unit. My younger brother is gay and he served in Gulf War, performing his tasks as ordered. He was a soldier, not a gay soldier or a straight soldier. This preoccupation with sexual identity and the accompanying politics has no place in front line combat units because it is a distraction from the dual goals of eliminating those that the policy makers in Washington have deemed to be the enemy as well as staying alive while doing it. Any distraction would make those goals harder to achieve.

P.S....Unrec.
