has the nerve to talk about genocide in Darfur, citing fellow war criminal Bush's "courageous" speech against it.

Bugger off, asshole!

5. That is a shocking statement
Dick Durbin a war criminal? He is one of the few courageous and committed senators who opposed this war from the beginning and has fought against it every day since. This is sheer insanity, when the senators who got us into this war in the first place get lauded (I'm talking about people like Kerry and Edwards), and principled liberals like Dick Durbin get slammed over a vote that Keith Olberman convinced you was significant. It was not: this war was not going to end via any legislation the Democrats might put forward or not put forward at this time.

I worry for this party and for this country if warped views like this persist. Get a grip.

6. And his voiting no would have ...?
Edited on Thu May-24-07 08:17 PM by Benhurst
His record WAS good. He should have stood his ground.

As for ending this war, it's time to start impeachment hearings now. Start the investigations and the votes will come. The fascist Bush junta hasn't a leg to stand on.

7. Did you listen to his speech?
It was very good. I frankly don't care how he voted on this, and he is my senator. Because I know how hard he works to find a way to end this war, and I also know how committed he is to veterans affairs and military issues at the same time. And because neither a vote yea or nay on this was going to shorten the war by one day. Save your rancor for Bush.

10. I was most disappointed in his vote. I was actually surprised at it, along with Harkin's.
One would assume that they are both senior enough not to worry about reelection at all. I thought that perhaps Harkin's vote was to ensure the Gulf Coast portion and the minimum wage increase would go through. I'm not sure why Dick Durbin voted the way he did. Some have said that they would vote aye holding their noses, but they only needed 50+Cheney and Senator Johnson is still not voting.
I wonder who the 5 hold outs on the vote were? Besides Johnson, that is? Were they that anxious to get to their vacations?
