The Sparrow: The New National Bird?
In light of the act of one lone but brave sparrow, who spoke for millions of Americans by defecating on the War-Monger-In-Chief, as he explained to the press how fortunate we all were to still have Fredo running things over at the DOJ.

While like many Americans, I love the majesty of the Eagle in flight. Soaring high above wind-swept mountains in search of something to kill. But the lowly sparrow, a bird that we see almost everyday, has sorely been taken for granted. Because it has been able to accomplish what many of us would pay money to do -- in spades.

So if George Tenet can get a Medal of Freedom, then I think that the sparrow deserves some consideration for honors as well.....

Bush In Line of Fire

May 24, 2007 1:50 PM

ABC's Ann Compton reports: An outdoor news conference in perfect spring weather, with birds chirping loudly in the magnolia trees, is not without its hazards.

As President Bush took a question Thursday in the White House Rose Garden about scandals involving his Attorney General, he remarked, "I've got confidence in Al Gonzales doin' the job."

Simultaneously, a sparrow flew overhead and left a splash on the President's sleeve, which Bush tried several times to wipe off.

Deputy White House Press Secretary Dana Perino promptly put the incident through the proper spin cycle, telling ABC News, "It was his lucky day...everyone knows that's a sign of good luck."

*** - Good luck, huh Dana? Leave to a Rethuglican to see value in what everybody knows is just excrement.

1. I swear this happened before I even knew about the poopie...
I was letting my dog out to use the potty and I saw a bunch of sparrow - just like the one you pictured - rolling over and over in the yard - like this:  - and they were jumping and frolicking and having a grand old time.

I think sparrows the world over were simply celebrating the direct hit of a man who can be considered no friend to the environment.

Some things can't be wiped off. Bird poop's one of them, blood is another.

8. Most people instinctively know that poop can't be flicked off.
This dope kept trying to flick it off, even as it was getting on his fingers. The neurons were not firing fast enough to carry the message, "Wet poop. Stop touching. Schmuck."

(Like I sometimes say to Grace.) It was great, but I think his aim was a bit off--it would have been even better if it landed on his head or his face.

20. Is that where my sparrows went?
I had about five different species of sparrow feeding at my feeders over winter. They also destroyed a lot of my new spring plantings before I netted them (bad sparrows). Then they all disappeared flying north or it seems east, maybe? :-) Perhaps all the Thom Hartmann, Randi Rhodes and other radio rants I was playing while gardening over the winter months inspired them. :-)

22. The message here is that only the
sparrows - the faceless mass of people - will remove Bush and Cheney. Don't wait for the political or economic elite birds to help out. And ignore the drunken popinjays on MSM.

By the way this is what the bird was singing as he/she pooped on Bush.

24. Good for the sparrow - tiny but tough!
Traditionally, sparrows are associated with London, and here's an English nursery rhyme:

A little cock-sparrow sat on a green tree,
And he chirruped, he chirruped, so merry was he;
A naughty boy came with his wee bow and arrow,
Determined to shoot this little cock-sparrow.

"This little cock-sparrow shall make me a stew,
And his giblets shall make me a little pie, too."
"Oh, no," says the sparrow "I won't make a stew."
So he flapped his wings and away he flew.

No doubt the naughty boy was Bush - he couldn't punish the insolent sparrow as he'd have liked!

And here's a little rhyme for Bush, which we used to chant in my school playground:

Birdie, birdie, flying high,
Sent me something in my eye.
I'm no baby, I don't cry,
But oh, am I glad cows don't fly!
