scoring the gold-medal winning goal, in overtime, at a Canadian-hosted Olympic Games? More than half the population of Canada watched that game.
It may not be "serious" news, but it does represent a almost nation-wide, shared moment of Canadian celebration. As a country, we've have precious few of those types of unifying moments in recent history.
What Canadian story do you think was a bigger news item this year?
