Russ Feingold 'wants to see President Obama reelected in 2012'

____ Sen. Feingold's top staffer categorically dismissed chatter that the Wisconsin Democrat, who lost his reelection battle this fall, would challenge Obama in a 2012 primary.

“Senator Feingold is not running for president in 2012. Any suggestion he is thinking of running, planning to run, or interested in running is untrue," said Mary Irvine, Feingold's chief of staff. "Senator Feingold is a strong supporter of President Barack Obama and wants to see him reelected in 2012.”

It's thought that if Obama were to get a primary challenger, it would be from his left, where progressives have expressed frustration toward the president's willingness to compromise on some issues. One group, the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, has run ads targeting Obama in Iowa, home to the country's first presidential nominating contest.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) suggested Thursday that Feingold might fit the profile of such a candidate, telling conservative radio talk show host Laura Ingraham that "I like Russ, and he may run against Obama in 2012."

6. I sort of doubt he'll run, but I hope like hell he trains
other democrats how to run and how to govern.

I'd hate to see him as part of the Lobby-Mill.

9. So now you call Feingold a liar too. Amazing.
The man is a Democrat. Not an idiot who will listen to the 15% of the 'disappointed' and try to make sure the repubs get the WH.

12. No, he won't.
And he's pretty unequivocal here.

I wonder--when he doesn't, what will you do?

11. I liked Russ. I thought his weird campaign
against "Obama's czars" was a little out of character for him, but by-and-large he was a good guy and did right by his constituents. That fucker Johnson won't do the same.

16. Of couse he does. I'd like to see him run for Senate again.
Has Herb Kohl announced if he's going to run for re-election in 2012? If Kohl retired, Feingold can go right back in the Senate. He'll have an easier time winning with Obama on the ballot.

17. The more I hear about the Progressive Change Campaign Committee
the more I think they have an agenda the rest of us don't know about. Or maybe they just discovered that bashing Obama from the left was a good fund raising gimmick.

It's not at all surprising that it's a Republican pushing the rumor about Feingold running.
