Millionaire Senator-elect seeks donations for campaign debt
WASHINGTON — Sen.-elect Ron Johnson is turning to the Washington money crowd for help in reimbursing himself for the $8.7 million he loaned his campaign.

The Oshkosh businessman, who spent about $14.4 million to defeat 18-year incumbent Democrat Russ Feingold, is hosting a "Debt Retirement Lunch" on Thursday at National Republican Senatorial Committee headquarters with Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky.

Donation levels printed on the invitations range from $500 to $5,000, according to the Capitol Hill newspaper Roll Call, which first reported the event last week. Johnson's camp confirmed the report Monday.

In the two weeks before the Nov. 2 election, Johnson pumped in $700,000 from his financial well for the final stretch, according to his post-election campaign finance report that covers the period between Oct. 14 and Nov. 23. During that time, he collected $1.6 million from contributors. He raised just more than $6 million from donors overall.

6. Wouldn't it be wonderful if ...
... nobody would donate. Sadly he will probably get all the donations he wants.

8. I like it. "Sunspot Johnson. Whiter than white
and ready to fight...for his Corporate overlords." Wisconsin is f#*ked. We have Walker as Governor, who appears to be dumber than Tommy Thompson, and that's saying a lot. We have a "ditz" (I think that's the best word) as Lt. Governor, and Sunspot Johnson who is a real non-thinker. Yippee!

11. Wisconsin should asked to be kissed first
Before it gets f#*ked!!!

Maybe when it all falls to shit there, people will grow a brain and realize that they were stupid, but I doubt it.

Good luck to you.

12. Thanks. I don't have high hopes for many of our
Wisconsinites "growing a brain." Too many here who swear by Fox news, listen to The Drugster Rush Limbaugh religiously, and only read The Post Crescent, a Gannett right wing rag (at least in my area).
