7. Yeah. Most members commemorate it by bombing their own side. |
|
We'll sink our own fleet at the New DU, and save our enemies the trouble.
This place isn't what it says it is anymore.

10. What side is that, Zell Miller's or Ben Nelson's or ??? |
|
They each have a D after their name as well....I believe in Progressive taxation, do you? That is my side.. I believe in Universal Health Care do you? that is my side. Neither of those appear to be Obama's side.

20. Except I don't say I am a Democrat |
|
I am an Independent as I have been my entire life. I have been voting for over forty years and NEVER swore blind allegiance to any Party. I vote for what I believe is right not what I am told the Party believes. I am on America's side not the Democrat's or the Republican's side.

Good Luck with that.
I see you get to decide what is 'right' for America.

But I am a pragmatist that lives in the real world, where real things happen.
I'm not that much into philosophizing while real people get hurt by voting for what I believe in.
I believe in a balanced budget, as I am a fiscal conservative, yet vote against my beliefs because right now, that would be counter-productive for the well-being of most people hurting in this economy.
We make compromises in life.
Everyone does.
Everyone.
Political purists write grand books expounding their great ideas, yet without putting any of those ideas into practice, the world rolls on.

Isn't it funny how DU has become exactly like the sites that drove a lot of people to DU? There is a fine line between disagreeing with policy and bashing. What many seem to forget is Obama was elected to bring bipartisanship back to the country, there is a double standard D's are expected to work with R's by the majority of uninformed voters, it hurts D's to fight then it also hurts D's to not fight. Reagan saw the double standards and ran with it, the R's learned to follow suit.
Your dealing with a divided country and no matter what the D's do they get screwed by the people. I saw the same thing when Carter was president, no matter what he did he was attacked, if he stuck up for the middle class he was to hard and a dictator if he compromised with R's he was weak and a namby pamby president. I've seen this happen over and over since Nixon left office in disgrace, look at Reagan vs Clinton, Reagan was patted on the back for doing illegal things like the Contra drug deal, Clinton was impeached for a BJ, go figure.

Sen. Bernie Sanders are bashing Obama over his decision to extend tax cuts to the rich. Do you think there might be some, as yet unseen, connection between someone like Bernie Sanders and the folks here on DU?

19. Yep, he is not a "strong" leader and did not get everything people |
|
wanted and horse traded with Republicans (strong leaders just somehow mesmerize the opposing party into complete agreement with them).
Obama fails to be a cult leader rather than a US President.
Everyone must agree with Obama, who must agree 100% with any given poster, and it could all work out exactly as poster wants if Obama would just say so!

25. I dunno, I got to keep a tax cut, too. |
|
And the capital investment accelerated depreciation schedule will directly impact my business for the positive, as I get to write off improvements to my physical plant quicker.
I'll take some horse-trading, thank you, as purity doesn't pay the bills.
All politics is compromise, unless you have one-party rule.
