Taxcuts are Win-Win for the GOP |

Because they made this an all or nothing decision.
Heads-- apparently what they got what they wanted. It's not even close, they not only get the taxcut for the wealthy extended, BUT importantly, they got both the middle class taxcut and the taxcut for the wealthy again to expire at the same time. If the middle class taxcut was extended to expire later than the taxcut for the wealthy, then there would be some chance for it to be defeated later. Now the same situation will come up again, with the GOP having more power at that time. The same win-win scenario will then be repeated.
Tails- both taxcuts expire. The GOP would be very happy here too, because the economy will be somewhat damaged short-term by removal of consumers' (middle-class' and unemployed's) spending money. The middle class will be angry and the GOP will use the MSM to blame Democrats. All of which serve their goal of winning the White House with huge majorities in Congress. At that point they would extend all of the taxcuts permanently.
