Just heard on Ed Schultz....12:45PM Tuesday.

According to Ed Schultz, Obama met ONLY with The Republicans to hammer out his latest "deal".

WTF?

8. Yes...I AM surprised.
I would like to think that as the LEADER of the DEMOCRATIC Party he would meet with Democrats before caving in to the Republicans.
.
.
.
If nothing else, maybe he could have gathered a little moral support FOR DEMOCRATIC policy.

Maybe they would have reminded him about his campaign promises?

Maybe they could have pointed out that he was giving away BILLIONS and getting crumbs?

Maybe they could have reminded him that de-funding Social Security may NOT be the smartest thing to do in the current climate?

Its just that, as a loyal Democrat, I EXPECT Democrats to be sitting at the table when policy is decided.

I hope the Dem Caucus
Blocks this. And just looks out for thier own necks in the next election. Throw him and the Administration under the bus and just be in it for them.

5. Protect themselves.
Indeed.

It is time for progressive Democrats in the House and Senate to simply do what is best for their own political futures -- Pres. Obama is clearly not interested in their input or help.

The sooner the divorce between Obama and the real Democrats in Congress, the better off those Representatives and Senators will be if they are up for election in 2012.

3. Ed got that from this article
“I think it’s troubling that he seems to be enthusiastic about it,” Landrieu said of the president. “Enthusiastic about this new arrangement to dealing with the Republican caucus. According to their leader, their No. 1 objective is to unseat him. I can understand trying to appeal to independent voters; I do that myself. I think it’s very important. But this sort of enthusiasm for caucusing with the Republicans — and he did not even speak to the Democratic Caucus — not the liberal group, not the moderate group, not the conservative group.”

6. How Bushian
Never miond what it is, just do as I say. I am your leader.

Mr. President, the GOP may work that way, but the Democratic Party does not. Especially when the sitting president looks done for. Ask Jimmy Carter about it.

13. There ya go: Obama's playing hardball
And those House Democrats now get to be boxed in: Go along with the "compromise" or take the blame for everything. It was a great tactical maneuver by Obama to make the announcement of an agreement like that (for those of you who think the president doesn't know squat-ah about getting tough).

11. It's striking, isn't it?
For all the talk about Obama can't do this or that because of Congress, he sure acted decisively here and it looks like he did an end run around the Democratic Congress to do this.
WTF, indeed!

25. Gee...on Ed's show last nite
he had a Rep on that said he wasn't part of the delegation that did meet with the President....so maybe Ed meant the President didn't meet with every Dem in Congress.

I'm so tired of hearing folks pound Obama for caving to the GOP when in actuality, he's not only dealing with them but so-called Dems that are just as guilty for standing in the way of Obama's agenda. To think Obama could do this without cooperation from the Dems and some of the GOP is a fantasy (fed by the media that loves to see us tear each other apart).

AND, if no compromise is reached what do you tell all those families that lose the unemployment benefits. And those of us in the mid to lower wage range that get our taxes hiked up come Jan 1? That additional tax could send lots of people over the edge!

Also, the compromise (from what I've been able to read) puts the ball back on the GOP to either jump on board or continue to obstruct & act the petty tyrants they are/want to be.

I believe Obama is taking what he believes to be the right path to protect the least of us. I believe MY job is to hammer every Dem in Congress to either do BETTER than the compromise proposed or at the least support that compromise. Obama cannot do this on his own....he's not a dictator with unlimited power.

(off the soapbox...no slights intended to anyone on this board):hi:
