Many here are SO angry with Clinton and Obama. Hmmmm. |
|
But it has nothing to do with race or sex, right?
Mmmmmkay.
Gee, I guess we'll all have to vote for the southern white guy (who rallied us into this war no less) because the black guy and the woman are the war mongering Republicans. Or maybe the other white guy running who voted YES yesterday. Sure don't see 232 threads calling him out by name.
But gender and race have nothing to do with it right? It's all about principles. Yeeeaaaahh. Sure. Go tell it to some other gullible shmuck because I'm not buying it.
Just thought I'd say so.

I will not stand idly by and watch what I know in my heart is racism and sexism in front of my eyes.
They are held to different standards. I don't need others to validate what I can see clearly with my own eyes.

And you're right, it had nothing to do with race or sex but with a lack of leadership. But then, you have made up your mind. With way too many "mmmmmmm's" in your post, btw.

Sorry to have offended you.
I have no intention in my heart to offend those who the thread doesn't apply to. My intention is to be true to myself and what I believe is the right thing to do. What's the right thing for me is obviously different that what it is for you.
If you don't see the racism and sexism around here when it comes to Obama and Clinton, lucky for you.
Though some people may be completely innocent, that's not the case for everyone. And I know that it's much, much easier to just give everyone the benefit of the doubt and call it a day. I just can't. And I won't.

Maybe this thread is directed at the likes of me, who said that they showed no leadership on this vote, that a call placed to Obama's state headquarters at 6pm was answered with "he has not announced his voting intentions yet".
Yeah, that makes me sexist and racist all of a sudden.
I think it makes me LESS sexist and racist to hold them to the same standards I would hold anybody to. I certainly laud them more than the "yes" voters, and I am thrilled they voted no, I just would have loved to hear SOMETHING, a peep from them yesterday.

You're entitled to your opinions about Obama and Clinton.
What I'm seeing on this board are two people who are being called out by name for being cowards and republican-lites over this. Not just one thread, dozens.
When's the last time you saw any politician raked over the coals like this because they voted the way we wanted them to? The standards are different. It is what it is. You are free to interpret it however you choose.

4. It's easier than that: |
|
The noisy ones (who refuse to stop initiating threads on this subject) are pissed off because they think that Congress could possibly legislate us out of this gd war. And, they will hear nothing else.
So, we have Obama and Clinton conspiring to keep the war going, Diane Feinstein as a war profiteer, Reid as a spineless wimp, Rahm as a lying coward, in fact all the Dems as cowards.
Most people call it petulance. It is, without doubt, a nasty lack of sophistication combined with no vision.

Who's right? You can't prove you're right and I can't prove I'm right.
But I think I'm right. And that being the case I can't help but call it when I see it. It's a thing with me. I've been in heated arguments in real life over it with my superiors at work. If I can't censor myself in real life I sure as heck wouldn't do it here either.

Thats a common tactic by the Republics.
Maybe, just maybe, all of us you are calling racists and misogynists are - god forbid - CORRECT!
Maybe the vote to fully fund the Iraq War IS a mistake!
Maybe you're the racist/sexist for bringing it up, when no one else seems to agree with you?
Then again, maybe you've just drank the Democrat's Kool-Aid and it's all hitting you at once.
My summation (a la 'wheel of fortune') is simple: Once you buy a war, it's yours to keep.
But, if you want to call me a racist and sexist because you can't face the truth, I can live with that. My Republic friends do it all the time.
Peace.

It's too bad I hadn't noticed Obama was an African-American earlier. As an alleged 'racist', that might have saved me a lot of time and money. And, Hillary's a woman?! You're kidding, right?!
If you choose to reply, please confirm to me that you are a white male so I can dismiss your comments out of hand like you have. Alternately, if you're not a white male, I can dismiss your comments out of hand since I'm an alleged racist and misogynist. Boy, dismissing other people's comments and calling them names sure is easy!
Peace.

22. My disappointment with Barack and Hillary has nothing to do with the color |
|
of their skin, nor their sex.
It does have everything to do with the fact that they are supposed to be Democratic Party LEADERS. And as such, I expect them to LEAD.
Why could neither of them muster up the time to announce their intentions PRIOR TO THE VOTE? As leaders, they could have possibly influenced others. But no. Why was this such a difficult decision for them?
Hillary has introduced a bill to rescind the authorization, which would certainly end the war pretty quickly. So why was her decision to vote NO such a strained one?
They both could have handled this much better, they both could have stated early on that they would not support any further blank checks for George Bush.
I don't give a damn about the color of their skin or what sex they happen to be. I DO give a damn about them playing games with our soldier's lives and allowing George Bush to continue his agenda without any constraints or accountability.
Pulling the race/sex card is going to get old, fast.

A lot of people were just looking for an excuse to attack them and used this vote as one. The fact the people here think Edwards is a good candidate, even though he voted for the war and at the same time bash Clinton and Obama for not voting no on a bill fast enough, says a whole lot.

nothing to do with race. In fact the black caucus, with the exception of those scumbags Harold Ford and Donna Brazil, are my political heroes. I would vote for John Conyers in a second. Same with Nancy Pelosi, although the Iraq funding bill is a little odd. So no , i dislike clinton and Obama because they are gross, not because of race or gender.

|
Edited on Fri May-25-07 04:54 PM by dicknbush
They knew their votes meant nothing as to the outcome of the vote so they could go for the high ground. I am not sure that I would have prefered they do the we support the troops schtick instead and vote yes. It really doesn't matter. Clinton voted for the war so she would get reelected plain and simple and now that W has screwed it up she is able to play the other side of the coin and be against the war...I wonder what she would be saying if things were going well in Iraq. If you don't have the courage to do the right thing in the first place JUST SHUT UP AND GO ALONG TO GET ALONG! No profile in courage there that's for sure. Only those who voted against Bush in 2002 to not allow this crime are the ones to listen to. Byrd voted against the authorization but he voted for the supplemental. Edwards Clinton Kerry all voted to give this criminal Bush permission to kill innocent people. It's nice that they have come around to see the error of their ways/vote but a little to late and way to much blood under the bridge now!

that we thought we could expect more from them?
Obama and Hillary are the two front runners for the Democrats right now. As such, many of us were hoping for more leadership from them. We have all been waiting so long for a Democrat to step forward and lead the party and the Country in a new direction. Someone who lead from the heart, and had courage of conviction. Many of us thought that Hillary or Obama were that Democrat. So does that make us racists or sexists? Far from it.
