no Operation Payback is not ok... since it breaks a slew of laws. Neither were several young men siting down at Woolworth counters to order some coffee oh back in the good ol' days.
Both broke laws... so both most be wrong.
Truth be told right now this has the feel of an old fashioned ... cyber riot... but like any other period of history this is a form of social protest.
I realize that this is not understood by those who really have no knowledge of history. Or for whatever reason they believe that laws are superior to man...this kind of thinking is alien to me since at times laws are wrong and need breaking.
I will not say if this falls in this category... suffice it to say that this is SOCIAL PROTEST... and it is time for people sot STOP BEING AFRAID of their fucking shadows and power as a society.
Oh and whether you think this is just crime for the sake of it, or social protest, the people in power actually get it. They know... and this is not easy to deal wiht for the people in power.

that said, English, or rather American is my fourth language, and correctly spelled misspellings (Pretest, instead of protest) will not be caught by a mechanical spell checker,
My order is Spanish, Hebrew, English and finally American.
Yes the rules of spelling and grammar between Queens English and American are sufficiently different that they are increasingly considered two subsets of the same language.
:hi:
I went ahead and corrected that.

5. Power will always make effective dissent illegal |
|
Legal and illegal does not always compliment right and wrong.
Slavery was legal, and clearly wrong.
Using marijuana is a crime with no victims.
Prostitution is making it illegal to sell what can be given away for free.
Personally, I don't care how illegal the growing dissent is, I support it.

I can't help but relate it to the Pentagon Papers, as others have done -- including Ellsberg, himself
Civil disobedience is a foreign concept today. The powers-that-be are not used to any challenges because the world has changed so much since the 1960's. People have tried to march, blog, write letters, etc., but nothing has worked. THIS is the first thing that has gotten attention in a LONG time.
I'm watching people debate this and I'm glad to see it.

the civil rights protesters who demonstrated actual, physical courage and challenged bad laws by their willingness to be arrested, beaten, shot, attacked by dogs, etc.

18. No, they're not. I have to disagree in this case. It takes little courage |
|
to jam up a server. It takes a lot of courage to be black and sit at a lunch counter in the Deep South in the 50's and 60's when no one wants you there and no one is going to protect your safety.

21. you may want to disagree but FUNCTIONALLY they are the same |
|
also you have no knowledge of how they can be tracked down, arrested and charged... all through the network, if they slip.
THis goes into how much people really do not understand the magical boxes. I hate to recommend fiction as an analogy but get any good cyberpunk novel... some of what is going on RIGHT NOW, was predicted by fiction writers twenty years ago.
necromancer might be a good place to start.

19. People have marched against the war(s)... it goes ignored |
|
And "free speech zones" have made protestors practically invisible.
This is the first thing in a long time that is drawing attention and questions to how governments are run.
Things that worked in the past are not working today because they are spun and watered down in the current 24/7 "news" world.

7. Power without blood shed. |
|
If the only benefit that comes of this is to wake people up to the fact that what they read, watch or hear in the MSM is carefully crafted bullshit then it will be worth it. Add more distrust of the power of government against truth and well, it's a good thing. Our government uses our money, fosters ill will through out the world in order to benefit their corporate masters who fund their elections.
Journalists of the MSM are secretaries taking diction from their corporate bosses.

It will break the laws it has when it wants to then expects we the little people to actually listen to it lecture us on the law. What these young people are doing is not violent. And it really is directly attacking the people who've interfered with Wikileaks.

25. K&R my grandson and I live together and I am watching it from my |
|
computer while he keeps tract of it on his. What is actually interesting is how much we understand just what you are saying. This is social unrest and it is triggered by what is really happening in this world. He is smart enough to understand how this is working but I can add the history. We are working well together. By the way he is calling this "cyber-war".
I was reading the doc. about 4 scenarios about the collapse of our nation and suggested it to him. He laughed and said "way ahead of you grandma - I have already read it".
