NPR: FBI & Justice Department Are "Scouring The Law Books" Looking To Prosecute WikiLeaks |
|
Edited on Thu Dec-09-10 05:36 PM by Hissyspit
Hey, guess what?
TORTURE IS AGAINST THE LAW.
ADMITTED WAR CRIMINALS ARE PROSECUTABLE.
CONSPIRING TO DESTROY OR COVER UP EVIDENCE OF TORTURE IS AGAINST THE LAW.
U.S. citizens, to boot.
Don't hurt yourself scouring about that, now.
Good lord... :eyes:

5. They should contact Assange. |
|
He probably has a law book dump all ready to go and knows exactly what statutes and clauses they're looking for.
Of course, he probably also knows all the exceptions to enforcing said statutes and clauses as well. :)

8. Torture and other war crimes? That's soooo looking backward to the past |
|
We're all about looking forward to the future! We can't prosecute any alleged war crimes; hell, we can't even investigate any allegations of war crimes, we're so focused on looking forward to the future. Besides, what's done is done. Investigations, development of evidence, and prosecutions aren't going to undo any alleged torture or bring any of the alleged dead back to life. Prosecutions would just politicize the political calculation made by the previous administration that nobody would have the courage to bring charges against them. And that wouldn't be bipartisan! It would make David Broder cry. So, let's just forget that, okay?

16. They jail the guy who breaks the pedophile ring, but let Bush walk. |

Considering that CCR has compiled info showing that the Obama Administration has prosecuted more whistleblowers than the Bush Administration, that speaks volumes in my book.
