I am curious as to whether there is any interest at all in this type of a group.
I am just starting out doing some genealogy work and I think it would be a great resource here at DU for others with the same interests to share tips and great finds.

I'm a member of the New England Historic Genealogical Society and have Family Tree Maker pages on the Internets.

I am very new to this. I have run into some anomalies with one person in the tree and am flummoxed about it.

There are lots of good sites for genealogy out there, and DU is fundementally a political site. That said, my wife and daughters are real serious about it.

4. There are DU groups for all kinds of non-political things |
|
Sometimes it is nice to share interests with like-minded folks.

Have they tried the Maryland online death index. How about HeritageQuest. Since you line in Maryland if you have a library card you can go to Sailor.com brings you to Heritage...type in your library card number and you can search. They have Rev. War files, and a lot of other things.

8. I think it could be interesting. I have done some research |
|
in the past on my own family. I found some relevant records and info on one side going back a few centuries. (A Cornish name to be exact) I learned so much about the recent and ancient history of these people, their culture and origins. Pretty fascinating. I received a lot of good info as well from a branch of the family that immigrated to Australia. It wasn't a common name (Trewartha), so I had an easier time tracing that one down.

They really get into this because they baptize in the name of the dead and think it's their duty to baptize all who were born world-wide.
Being raised a Mormon and coming from a pioneer Mormon family, our family research now goes back into the 1300's.
