For a long time I'd been thinking of what Joe would have to give up to be
President. (What anyone has to give up, actually, but I cared about Joe).

I honestly felt bad that he wouldn't be able to walk down the street to get a coffee, to meet a friend for lunch in a favorite restaurant. To mix with the masses on his daily commute. I wondered about Jill having to give up teaching. About his grandkids probably having to have secret service protection -- how that would affect them and how Joe would feel about it. The threat of assassination (we've seen what happens when a President pisses off the big interests.)

Granted, these considerations pale in comparison to what he would bring our country and the world -- the bigger picture -- but I still felt bad for him personally.

Although I'm sure he could have handled it :7

1. I was thinking of his first day riding Amtrack from Delaware and
seeing all his old cronies. All the love he will get and the kind words. When he walks into the Senate chambers and receives all the warm congrats for doing a fine job, when he and Chris Dodd meet in the chamber and hug each other. I'm hoping that's how it plays out, I'm sure it will. It would appear, in my scenario, he's going to be a lot happier than us. We need to "Get Up" eventually and make some decisions here. I don't want to leave this group, I love you all.

4. I remember when Kerry went back to the Senate after the election
Biden said to him - I'm going to be honest, am not happy to see you back.
Kerry broke out a big smile.

I'm hoping Kerry will do the same for him :)
