I made my DU donation...
... Just so I could talk with all of you. I found the DU about a week and a half a go and have been coming to the Biden group every day. At first I was a little turned off by the General discussions, but you have created a great community here.

Like many of you, I have been depressed since Joe dropped out. I had never felt that way about a candidate before. I first saw him on Bill Maher over a year ago talking about his Iraq plan and it made so much sense. I began to casually follow him after that. As Primary season got closer I've become a true supporter of him. So, like all of you I feel lost without Joe's words of wisdom and sincerity as our compass. I feel like none of the other candidates can live up to my expectations. Joe raised the bar for all of us, which is something that supporters of many of the other candidates can't see. There are people who say, "pick another horse." That's easy to say when your horse isn't all that great. We have a great one and weren't able to make others see it.

I think we have become the Biden Support group. I have read how you have consoled each other and given words of support as each grapples with the reality of having someone other than Biden in the White House. So with that I say hello to you all and I share your feelings for our current situation.

1. Like your horse analogy. We had best of breed & now . . .

Yep, I'm with you. I'm so depressed about Joe & dislike the top three so much that I'm not even going to participate in caucus. And I was really looking forward to that! Arghh!! :banghead: The JBSG is about the only forum I visit anymore. Well that & the fitness forum.

Welcome to DU, muddrunner!

:hi:

2. Hi, mudrunner!!
We're thrilled to have you here! :grouphug;

It's almost universal that Biden supporters say "I've never felt this way about a candidate before." There's just something about him that inspires trust and makes you feel secure. And as you can tell, we're still devastated.

Nope, can't just pick another horse after Joe as we're all learning.

Again, welcome!!! :hi:

See you around!

4. Big Welcome!
So glad you joined us here. It really helps if we can share our feelings with one another.

I know the Bill Maher show you're talking about. My daughter and I watched it again recently at YouTube and I noticed something that I hadn't when it first aired. Maher showed profound respect for Biden. He didn't swear! Where he'd usually say "shit", he said "stuff".

Joe Biden is an exceptional person and I don't expect we'll see anyone quite like him for a long, long time. What a missed opportunity.

5. Welcome Muddrunner - we are so glad to have you join us.
The fact that we keep getting new Bidenites -now- says alot about Joe.

The only thing that is getting me through this is that he is still the chairman of the SFRC - and he went back to that powerful position with alot more respect and admiration than he had before.

6. Welcome to DU and JBSG Muddrunner17
This group is a haven of sanity in an otherwise fucked up world. :hi:

Nobody understands our depression and grief about losing Joe as a candidate better than this wonderful posse of smarties. :grouphug:

7. A big welcome to you!
It's nice to have you join us.
Like everyone else, I'm without a candidate, too. Biden was the best choice, and none of the others measure up.

8. Welcome!
Yep, we had the best and as the system continues to play out, it becomes even more mind boggling and depressing to see what others preferred instead. We have only begun to miss Joe.

9. Thank you all
for your kind words welcoming me here. I think it's important that we see that Biden's ideas and integrity are thrust upon the nominee. If we can't have Joe himself, then we need to set the expectation that who ever get the nomination will show the respect and gratitude to the American People that is deserved.

I was thinking about the horse analogy, which I took from posts I've seen in the general forum to supporters of candidates that have dropped out. What stuck me is that society does treat candidates as though they're beasts. If we set that expectation, then why should they behave any other way? We need to set the expectation that presidents will be held accountable to their promises to the country and their oath to the Constitution. I have realized that I don't need to agree with any candidate on all of the issues, but I do need to have faith that they will always act in the best interest of the country instead of doing what polls tell them to, or what is deemed politically expedient.
