I wanted to share :)
Just came back from Orientation at the University where my daughter will be attending.

On the last day there was an Expo where they had tables set up for different clubs and activities to sign up for. We passed a table that was for Young Democrats of Arizona. My daughter looked at me and started to laugh. I told her "C'mon, you've got to do everything you can to get Obama elected in November." She turned to me and said "You're right"...and she signed up!
I'm such a proud mommy:toast:

2. You ARE a good mommy!
Is this the daughter that had the life-size cutout of Obama in the garage, and we wanted you to put a Biden for President t-shirt on it? :7

And what a wonderful thread, P! -- I'm going back to read all the positive responses.

What I found when I started actually LISTENING to Obama as a candidate rather than through the filter of him being Joe's opponent, he really did grow on me. I'm not gonzo over him like I was for Joe, but I do feel really comfortable that he would do a wonderful job as President. Hope you will warm to him, too.

:hi:

3. I think I need to stay away from DU a little longer.
I was listening to Hartmann this morning and actually got a little excited thinking about what Obama's nomination really meant. Then I signed onto DU and started feeling pissed. :(

Yep - that was my daughter who had the lifesize Obama cutout in our garage.
Somewhere I have a pic of him wearing a Biden for President button.:)

12. I remember the life sized Obama cut out!
Didn't you have some conservative relatives visit while you had it?

13. I would love to see that picture
If you find it, could you post it? Nothing like a little family political feud... I've got a son supporting Ron Paul. Even got a sign on his lawn. The kid may get a lump of coal for his birthday. Wondering where I went wrong, but there is hope...he voted for Kerry last time.

I decided awhile ago that I could get behind Obama. I especially like that he is taking control of the party...not taking lobbyist funds and he gave Lieberman a talking to.

15. I wouldn't be dismayed about your son's support of Ron Paul.
I shows that he can think independently, whether you agree with his position or not. In this day and age here in America, that's something to really be proud of and should give you heart. It's very, very difficult to think independently in America today. It means you are willing to accept a certain amount of ostracization, sometimes a lot, in order to think objectively, independently, and honestly. For sure there is a price to be paid, but I think it is a price well worth paying:

"I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference."

Robert Frost

Support your son's beautiful and truth-seeking independent thinking. It's a rare and wonderful thing.

18. at least Paul is anti-war & has some integrity, which McCain seems to have lost
I'm not crazy about some of Paul's positions, but I respect libertarians more than the current GOP anyway, and I think Paul is more of a libertarian except for his abortion stance.

8. It was while we all had big dreams for Biden.
The life sixe cutout was a present for her friend who loves Obama.
It was in my garage and everytime I walked by it I found myself talking to it :P
"Biden".

In retrospect it was pretty funny but it sure drove me crazy at the time.

4. Its probably in her blood
whether she wants to admit it or not! It will be more exciting for her when she is acting independently of you and she may be surprised to find out how similar she is to her Mom.

7. Whew!
Daddy is a repug.
And we've been married for 22 years. I am so relieved that she inherited my blood, not his.
I don't think I could handle living with 2 of *them*.

My motherly advice to her has been to marry a Democrat :)
