http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x6556624Whatcha think? Would you guys be okay with Kaine? Regardless of who Obama picks, if he doesn't win in November, I'll be convinced it was because he didn't choose Biden.

2. Rachel summed it up -- |

WHO on the ticket might bring in the voters who might not vote for Obama otherwise?
THAT's why I think we need someone with some zip. Someone who would get a lot of coverage and great sound bites, to make peoples' ears perk up and go -- wait a mo, this guy is interesting!
We know who that is. Schweitzer might bet able to do that, too, but nobody does it better than Joe.
So even though I don't especially like Joe in the VP slot, I'm not really sure who else could bring the interest to the ticket than he does.
Except maybe Clark, but I'm still fuming on how Obama dropped him like a hot potato.

6. You bring up a great point -- |
|
and I think he's said he wouldn't leave Montana, period. So...
It would be cool to see the VP in a bolo tie, though, with Jag romping around the office. :7

9. It would really be unique! |

Well, it appears today that everyone is saying Kaine. I wonder what they'll be saying tomorrow.

3. I guess it's down to Biden, Bayh and Kaine with Kaine being the buzz today. |
|
All I know of him is when he gave the Dem response to a SOTU a couple of years ago.
Was not impressed. But hey, he definitely won't outshine Obama :P
I have heard some chatter that if Obama picked Biden it would look like he needed his dad there for advice. But look at Kennedy-Johnson...and that other team that is in office right now.
If he doesn't pick Biden, I'll be disappointed but I'd still rather see Biden as SoS.

4. Joe has been admirably deferential to Obama, IMO. |
|
He's given credit to Obama where HE should be the one taking the credit.
I can see Joe doing it, but it wouldn't be easy on him. Again, IMO.
And there IS that concern about outshining Obama. That's the number one rule, I've heard, Thou Shalt Not Upstage The President. Joe just can't help it. :7

7. Does anyone else think it's kinda weird |
|
that Kaine is bringing all this attention to himself?
I mean, all the buzz that is out there is coming from Kaine. (omg - I almost typed McCain. McCain. Kaine. hmmmmm) All that has come out of Biden and Bayh's office is that they are being thoroughly vetted right now.
Do you really think this is how Obama would want people to know who his vp pick is?
Seems weird.

I think Kaine screwed up and ran his mouth to the wrong people who in turn leaked it. I'm quite sure Obama is not happy about it.

has been run so meticulously, there is no way they'd do something like this intentionally.

11. That doesn't sound too good |
|
And of course, I can always go back to my first problem with Kaine - he's friggin' BORING!
Now he's starting to sound too much like a republican as well.

13. I'm not sure Kaine as VP would have much to say about it, though. |
|
(Do VPs have much input on anything? Cheney excepted, of course.) He wouldn't be able to vote against it, anyway.
AND -- I heard a medical researcher on the radio talking about some fantastic results some physicians are getting using the patient's OWN stem cells! They have found they work better than embryonic stem cells! Why the hell aren't we looking into that?

15. That's why I posted that thread out there... |
|
People are so dang negative that I was starting to hope that Obama didn't pick Kaine. No veep pick will be perfect...not even Biden. If Biden got picked, the media is going to be sitting there waiting for Biden to say something that they can pick to pieces.
That is great news about stem cells! I watched a program about people that were helped from embryonic stem cells and it was amazing. But sad - they had to travel to foreign countries to get treatments.
