President of Argentina, Christina Kirchner to visit Cuba today

Havana. President of Argentina, Christina Kirchner will arrive in Cuba Sunday, as this will be the first visit to of an Argentinean leader to the Island of Freedom in the last 23 years, RIA Novosti announced.
Kirchner’s visit had to happen a week ago but was postponed as doctors advised her to rest because of health problems on Friday. President of Cuba, Raul Castro wished her a fast recovery and noted that this was most important at that moment.
Havana announced that the visit aims to strengthen the partnership and cooperation between the two countries and peoples.

Argentine President to Arrive in Cuba on Sunday

Havana, Jan 17 (Prensa Latina) Argentine President Cristina Fernandez is scheduled to arrive in Cuba on Sunday for her first state visit to the Caribbean island, following an invitation by Cuban President Raul Castro.

Her visit will help tighten current friendship and cooperation ties between both governments and people, the Granma newspaper said on Saturday.

Fernandez will hold official talks with Raul Castro and meet with other Cuban top officials, the press release announced. Her agenda includes touring sites of economic, historic and cultural interest in Cuba.

Born in 1953, she is married to Argentina’s former president Nestor Kirchner.
