SELA Opposes US Blockade against CubaCaracas, Mar 31 (Prensa Latina) The 27 country members of the Latin American, Caribbean Economic System (SELA) declared themselves in favor of the end of the US economic, financial blockade imposed on Cuba for over 50 years.
This was the view of countries grouped in the regional entity during the meeting to review economic relations between the United States and Latin America and the Caribbean in the context of the crisis, SELA Permanent Secretary Jose Rivera told Prensa Latina on Tuesday.
The best sign the US administration of Barack Obama might send to the continent would be "a firm decision to put an end to the blockade, which is a widespread demand, as it could be witnessed today in discussions of members of SELA and the international community."
He stressed that the start of a new relationship between the United States and the subcontinent "would call for a firm decision in this regard."

1. So beautiful seeing these countries speaking out on something they've believed all this time. |

It's truly time to push the issue now. The world has waited far too long already.
Barack Obama knows the right thing to do, even if the loudest, most ignorant, delusional, self-centered, and ugliest of the right-wing will fight it. #### them.
