Goriletti must be suicidal as Fidel said. I saw him open an address to a rally, "I want to thank ALL of the Hondurans THAT COULDN'T BE HERE TODAY".

I just got up. Did anything else happen besides those lunatics issuing an order for Zelaya's arrest? Is Congress dissolved and on a plane yet? :hi:

1.  Whoa! Great moments in irony!
Didn't know they've put out an arrest warrent. Hope whoever thought that up will be forced to eat it.

Beautiful news hearing there's a crowd on foot now.

Thank you.

2. I can't believe what I'm seeing on Telesur.
People walking on roads as far as you can see!

I hope Telesur gets some of this up in files that we can post.

I thought I heard that Congress and the Court had dissolved their sessions but, that was before my coffee. Something to listen for as this stand off intensifies. :hi:

3. One pic and a statement from the march organizers:

Hondureños marchan hacia la capital a pesar de la represión

Hondureños que apoyan al presidente legítimo Manuel Zelaya, se movilizan desde el interior del país con el fin de llegar a Tegucigalpa para sumarse a quienes exigen la restitución inmediata del orden constitucional. "El ejército del pueblo le hará frente al ejército represor, no llevamos armas, sólo llevamos el espíritu de lucha y defensa de la democracia", dijo a teleSUR el dirigente social Freddy Vega.

Trans: Hondurans march to the capitol despite the crackdown

Hondurans that support the legitimate president, Manuel Zelaya, have mobilized in the interior of the country with the aim to arrive at Tegucigalpa, gathering to demand the immediate restoration of constitutional order. "The Peoople's Army will confront the repressive military, we carry no weapons but only bear the spirit of struggle and the defense of democracy," Freddy Vega, community organizer told Telesur.

:woohoo:

6. They appear ready to move from great distances. This is a powerful statement.
Hoping they make their trip without harm coming to them, and are able to go back home knowing good came from it, after all.

They are putting so much from their hearts on the line by doing this. It's going to a HUGE amount of trouble for their beliefs.

Thanks for the image, translations.

10. The best thing would be for the plotters to get on a plane while the airport
is still in their control. They'd get away but then there would be no reason for the military to fire on anyone.

4. Telesur's short report of the order to arrest Zelaya:
Edited on Tue Jun-30-09 03:23 PM by EFerrari

http://www.telesurtv.net/solotexto/nota/index.php?ckl=53123-NN

According to the de facto Justice Department in Honduras, Zelaya is to be detained immediately upon setting foot on Honduran soil, where he is accused of various crimes and among them, "treason" and "usurpation"; reportedly, Interpol has been sent an arrest warrant for his international capture.

Maybe Interpol could bring them some coffee and doughnuts, too, if they're not doing anything.

---------------

Yeah, he is guilty of having himself kidnapped from his home in the early morning by hooded army troops, being hustled aboard a plane and whisked off to Costa Rica in his PJs

Guess they will have to arrest Christina, Correa, D'Escoto and Insulza when they accompany this "traitor" to Tegucigalpa on Thursday

8. This is a very dangerous situation unfolding. Between now and when
Zelaya returns on Thursday is plenty of time for each and every element to get in to position to whack the hell out of Zelaya's supporters. Zelaya returning to Honduras without a rebellion within the military throwing support to the military is way too dangerous. I know Zelaya is bringing Kirchner,D'Escoto,Mr. OAS but the people will bear the brunt.

On the up side, you know that Cuban and Venezuelan intelligence are all over this situation in-country. These guys can do some amazing things.

EFerrari, I'm listening to Telesur off and on and trying to see what's going on at the OAS. I'm in sensory overload, ha!!

13. There are 2 helicopters buzzing like hell over my apartment building.
I don't know whether Zelaya is in the area having a few visits as he alluded to at his press conf. in NY. Or maybe they are tracking protesters heading for the OAS.

I'm thinking that the US has gone to Plan B and a huge set-up is being put in place. Thursday will be one of the more incredible days in years.

20. Everything from preventing Zelaya from getting there, to trouble at the
airport. Apprehension of Zelaya after he leaves the airport. And, how about another early morning arrest. I guess I'm saying there are ways for Zelaya to be diverted and it can be done without the US' finger prints on it.

the US has spent a lot of money working this coup and their reason for orchestrating it has not dissolved into thin air. Like all good empires, the US has a Plan B that can only work if Zelaya doesn't make it back to Honduras or if he gets whacked upon arrival. Only the people can save Zelaya now and it becomes a duel between the US and the people.

22. I think it's fundamentally a mistake to view "the US" as a monolith.
Edited on Tue Jun-30-09 04:20 PM by EFerrari
Our government is a big place with more than one locus of power and imho, more than one active one at this time in this situation.

Obama's admin has to try to make sure Zelaya gets back in one piece, especially now that he has a significant escort. The people are mobilizing for him and Obama will lose face if he isn't restored.

I think it's more likely that whoever is working this will let it go. If the plan is to disrupt and destroy ALBA, getting into a fight in Honduras right now won't do it. Unless they shoot all three of them. I hope Rafa is wearing kevlar. He is in danger as is Evo and Hugo. But, they probably know that.

24. Oh I don't view the US as a monolithic force. There are concentric
circles of CIA, DIA, NSA, DOD, Cuban mafia, USAID, etc., etc. Obama only has one responsibility -- to see that Zelaya gets to Honduras. After that, anything goes. Why? Don't forget the route by which the US arrived at its signing on last minute to the UN resolution. Alot of mush and bullshit by Hillary and Obama. It is very significant that Obama was not able to deliver a significant firm statement until yesterday. And where does the US' recognition that Zelya must be reinstated appear? On today's UN resolution. The US knew all along they would get jammed up at the UN and have to play nice, but they pushed the "gee, we'll have to examine what happened/there should be a return to constitutional power" as long as they could. Time and the right dynamics will reveal the ultimate intentions.

So there are many scenarios: preventing him from making it to the airport,a double-cross at the airport. Apprehension of Zelaya after he leaves the airport. And, how about another early morning arrest. I guess I'm saying there are ways for Zelaya to be diverted and it can be done without the US' finger prints on it.

but we should know that there are leaders with even bigger targets on their back than Zelaya has. And that they will wear those targets for the forseeable future.

33. Not to worry
"les abalearon los cauchos" is not your everyday expression. :-)

Tires in Argentina are "gomas." In other places, "llantas." In Honduras, "cauchos."

Oh, Honduras is undergoing a brief nightmare. But it will not sink into the dark days of the previous dictatorships.

I was wondering where the golpistas will go. Maybe they should start studying North Korean.
