De Facto Regime Tries to Take Honduran TV Channel off the Air

HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 16 (acn) A plan boosted by Honduras’ de facto regime to
take Canal 36 (Channel 36) off the air from Honduran television was
denounced on Thursday in Tegucigalpa.

The independent channel, occupied by the army since the beginning of the
coup d'état against constitutional president Jose Manuel Zelaya, has
suffered power cuts since Wednesday evening, which impedes its
transmissions, the Prensa Latina news agency reports.

Channel director Amado Lopez explained that the power cuts respond to a
policy of the de facto regime to take the channel off the air, take away
its transmission frequency, and start a persecution against its staff.

In statements to the multinational television network Telesur, Lopez said
he has been informed that on Friday an arrest warrant against him could
be issued.

Radio Globo, also opposing the coup, has been off the air since Wednesday
night.

Meanwhile, the Venezolana de Televisión and Telesur television crews were
the victims of hounding, repression and mistreatment by the de facto
government, before being expelled from Honduras to prevent them from
broadcasting to the world the truth about the situation in that Central
American country.

1. It's so doubtful any of the clowns who shrieked their lungs out about coup participant RCTV
would have anything to say about a station's removal by a band of nazi cretins trying to overthrow the peoples' will as expressed in their elected President.
