A reciprocal agreement will be signed during the Bolivian President's 3-day stay on voting in local elections

The President of Bolivia, Evo Morales, arrived in Spain on Sunday for the start of a three-day official visit, his first since becoming President in 2006. He’s been in the country on two occasions in the past: as presidential candidate in September 2005 and as President-Elect in January 2006 prior to his investiture.

He’s standing for re-election to the position this December.

A number of agreements are due to signed at a meeting with the Prime Minister, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, at Moncloa Palace on Tuesday. They include a bilateral agreement which will allow Spaniards resident in Bolivia to vote in local elections, and the almost 100,000 Bolivians registered as residents in Spain to vote in Spanish municipal elections. The total number, including those who live here without papers, is believed to be around 250,000.
