Coup-leader Micheletti rewarded vice-presidency 'Liberal International'
This is how the Liberal International describes itself:

Liberal International (LI) is the world federation of liberal and progressive democratic political parties. LI was founded in 1947 to strengthen liberal protection from totalitarianism, facism and communism. It has since become the pre-eminent network for promoting liberalism, individual freedom, human rights, the rule of law, tolerance, equality of opportunity, social justice, free trade and a market economy. This site informs you about social liberalism and classic liberalism, our policies, activities and member parties.

Today, Dutch right-wing politician Hans van Baalen (head of the Dutch VVD-party delegation in the European Parliament) has announced that, starting in 2010, current de-facto Honduran leader Roberto Micheletti will be the vice-president of the 'Liberal International'. Van Baalen is now in Honduras, as part of a delegation of the 'Liberal International', where he has spoken with Micheletti and president Zelaya. He said president Zelaya is considering acknowledging the results of the November 2009 elections.

If you can read Dutch, this is the source: http://www.nu.nl/politiek/2123293/van-baalen-spreekt-met-rivalen-honduras.html

The article comes from ANP (Algemeen Nederlands Persbureau/General Dutch Press-agency). The article also says president Zelaya was removed from office because he wanted to hold a referendum to clear the way for re-election.

2. "free trade and a market economy" would be great, if we had them.
What we have are humongously big global corporate predators--virtual "floating countries"--who MONOPOLIZE trade and, when they don't get their way, hijack entire national militaries to slaughter a million people, to steal their oil and force "free trade for the rich" upon them, or, through the World Bank/IMF, offer the rich elites in smaller countries a sweet package of looting and "getting rich quick" if they will give their countries' resources, social benefit programs and workforces away to global corporate predators.

This is not "free trade." This is not a "market economy." This is TYRANNY.

Global corporate predator tyranny has been hugely destructive of "individual freedom, human rights, the rule of law, tolerance, equality of opportunity and social justice." No force on earth has ever been so destructive of these things. We have only to look at the state of our own Constitution, the rule of law, educational system, health care system, manufacturing system, prison system, rich-poor discrepancy and every other indicator, to see what this corporate tyranny has done. It has destroyed the most progressive, most prosperous country in the world.

As every prosperous society in the modern era has shown, beyond any question or doubt--including this once prosperous society, right now--the U.S.A.--"individual freedom, human rights, the rule of law, tolerance, equality of opportunity and social justice" are best achieved by a MIX of socialist and capitalist policies. Socialism sees to the common good--to the REGULATION of speculators and financial sharks, fair taxation, public works and the protection of workers, the poor, the sick and elderly, as well as to common infrastructure (emergency services, roads, schools, hospitals, etc.)--while capitalism provides the means to start businesses, so that new ideas, products and services can be created, in a context of FAIR competition.

Any organization that does not acknowledge this OBVIOUS reality, and that claims to be "liberal," is LYING, and is probably funded by Exxon Mobil or their Dutch brethren.

And their elevation of one of the worst human rights abusers, and one of the most lawless and illegitimate leaders, in Latin America, to "vice president" of their organization, just tells us a bit more about who they really are and what they really promote.
