JERUSALEM (AP) — An Israeli wanted in Colombia for training militias that killed hundreds returned home Saturday after he was released from a Moscow jail, disappointing activists and victims who have tried for years to bring him to justice.

Yair Klein is accused of training far-right paramilitary groups in the 1980s that stole land and murdered Colombians during a decade-long reign of terror across the countryside.

Human rights activists are pleading with Israel to open an investigation into Klein's actions during that period in the hopes that he could be tried locally.

"Israel should not be a safe haven for somebody who is implicated in atrocities in Colombia," said Jose-Miguel Vivanco of the New York-based Human Rights Watch.

1. A whole lot of rats are escaping Colombia's justice system, recently...
...most of them directly aided by the U.S. Wouldn't surprise me if the U.S. had a hand in this as well. Yair Klein was only doing the dirty work for U.S. multinational corporate/war profiteer rulers. Who benefited from his murders? Occidental Petroleum, Exxon Mobil, Monsanto, Chiquita, Dyncorp, Blackwater, et al, and their main enabler, Bushwhack tool, Alvaro Uribe.

The Reaganites were proxy killing thousands of leftists, trade unionists, human rights workers, teachers, community activists, mayors, journalists, academics, Indigenous tribespeople, small peasant farmers and others, all over Latin America during Yair Klein's killing spree, just like the Bushites have been doing in Colombia. The Obama administration, and most particularly, A.G. Eric Holder and Sec of State Clinton, are covering up these most recent crimes.

Holder has a personal interest in covering up Colombian military and paramilitary death squad activity. He was Chiquita's lawyer, in private practice, who got Chiquita execs off with a handslap for hiring death squads to take care of their "labor problems" on Chiquita farms in Colombia. Clinton left Bushwhack ambassador to Colombia, William Brownfield, in place, while he did two things: 1) Arranged for the midnight extradition of death squad witnesses to the U.S., where they were 'buried' in the U.S. federal prison system-out of the reach of Colombian prosecutors and over their objections--by completely sealing their cases in the U.S. federal court in Washington DC; and 2) Got Uribe to sign a secretly negotiated U.S./Colombia military agreement giving "total diplomatic immunity" to all U.S. military personnel and all U.S. military 'contractors' in Colombia.

Recently, Clinton "fined" Blackwater for "unauthorized" "trainings" of "foreign persons" (don't know who) IN COLOMBIA "for use in Iraq and Afghanistan." (Interesting that Holder also arranged a "fine" for Chiquita execs--and made the lawsuit of the victims' survivors go away.) I don't for a minute believe that Blackwater's "trainings" were "unauthorized." And I think they were "training" assassins.

Additionally, just this week, a very important witness against Alvaro Uribe, on his spying program in Colombia--spying on judges, prosecutors, politicians, trade unionists and others--Uribe's spy chief, Maria del Pilar Hurtado--escaped Colombia and ended up in Panama, which just gave her asylum in a most irregular proceeding (overnight!). Apparently the other spying witnesses are on their way. Panama is a U.S. client state, but it is my opinion that such an action as this--spitting on the judges and prosecutors and the justice system in a fellow Latin American country--could only have been done by a direct order from the CIA or other U.S. authorities.

ANYBODY who could nail Bush Junta ally Alvaro Uribe is getting removed from Colombian jurisdiction. I think it's because Blackwater and possibly U.S. military murders in Colombia, and U.S. provision of high tech spying capabilities to Uribe, were AUTHORIZED by Bush Jr and his gang of criminals in Washington. What we are seeing is Bush Jr's trail being covered. Uribe himself has been given academic sinecures at Georgetown and Harvard, and a prestigious appointment to an international legal commission (the one investigating Israel for firing on aid boats!). Why is Uribe getting all this U.S. protection? Because he knows things, that's why. He has to be coddled because he could nail Bush Jr and his puppetmasters, Cheney and Rumsfeld.

Yair Klein probably knows a thing or two about the Reaganites, too--which included Cheney and Rumsfeld. Reagan was a MASS MURDERER. TWO HUNDRED THOUSAND Mayan villagers were slaughtered in Guatemala alone, with his support and aid. Tens of thousands of people were murdered in Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras, in those illegal wars, and, of course, Reagan supported the dictatorships throughout South America, including the torture and murder of more thousands of people. Yair Klein was a little rivulet of bloody murder in an ocean of bloody murder and horror beyond describing.

And it has happened all over again in Colombia over the last decade, with $7 BILLION in U.S. military funding, and now in Honduras as well, with the U.S. supported rightwing coup d'etat. And the cover-up is in progress.

"We need to look forward not backward" when it comes to criminals who are too powerful to be prosecuted. Obama learned that at Harvard.
