Colombia's prosecutor general, Viviane Morales, will evaluate new evidence to determine whether to bring charges against two former DAS officials for wiretapping, Caracol Radio reported Friday.

The two in question are former DAS Director Maria Del Pilar Hurtado, currently in political asylum in Panama, and former chief of staff to Alvaro Uribe, Bernardo Moreno, who has also been called as a witness against Uribe's son in a separate case.

On Tuesday the former deputy director of analysis for DAS was sentenced to eight years and four months in prison for his part in the wiretapping scandal.

While he accepted his charges and apologized to the victims, he incriminated Hurtado, stating that she was the person in charge of the operation.

Judges, journalists, human rights workers and politicians comprised the victims of illegal wiretapping by DAS during the Alvaro Uribe era.
