Eni expects Venezuelan gas by 2013
Published: April 8, 2011 at 7:57 AM

MILAN, Italy, April 8 (UPI) -- Production of natural gas at the largest discovery in Venezuela is scheduled for 2013, Italian energy company Eni announced.

Venezuela struggles with a natural gas shortage, importing about 200 million cubic feet from Colombia. Colombian gas exports to Venezuela collapsed in January 2010, complicating an energy emergency declared by Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.

Eni in a note to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission said the Perla discovery in the Gulf of Venezuela holds "significant amounts of gas reserves" that could enter production by 2013, Bloomberg News reports.

Eni said in November that it uncovered a "supergiant" gas discovery at the Perla field, which the company said holds an estimated 14 trillion cubic feet of gas.

1. "Colombian gas exports to Venezuela collapsed in January 2010..." ??
Could this have been a deliberate collapse of gas imports to Venezuela, coordinated with the CIA/USAID "talking points"--"blackouts, inflation and crime, oh my!"--chanted by rightwing marchers prior to the national assembly elections? Why did Colombian gas exports to Venezuela "collapse" at that time (making their drought-caused energy problem worse)? Were Alvaro Uribe's insane fulminations at the OAS calculated to drive Chavez to cut off diplomatic relations and suspend economic activity with Colombia? Did this cause the "collapse" of gas imports? Could THIS have been why Uribe did all that crazy last-minute war mongering, two weeks before he was out of office? (--yet another Uribe "job" to earn him CIA protection points?)

We need to find out why gas exports from Colombia to Venezuela "collapsed."

You sound like the wisconsisn supreme court justice (the guy who just won under suspicious circumstances) who blamed the woman he lashed out at for baiting him. Is Chavez really so weak that he can't act in the interests of his own country over a few words by a rival?

Although I normally appreciate your posts and hard work, even when I don't agree with it, this is a total joke. Can't you for once in your life admit that Chavez isn't perfect?
