BOGOTA, April 14 (Xinhua) -- At least 768 violations of international humanitarian law occurred during 2010 in Colombia, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said on Thursday

Releasing its annual report, the ICRC's office in Colombia said the cases include murders, threats, disappearances and illegal land occupation, in addition to 35 new cases of massive displacement that took place primarily in the southwestern part of the South American country.

"While the situation improved in some areas, people from various departments of the country continue to suffer the consequences of actions and armed clashes," Christophe Beney, the head of the ICRC delegation in Colombia, said at a press conference.

The ICRC also said that more than 180,000 people who have been affected by the over 40 year-long continuing armed conflict have received help or direct support by the ICRC last year.

1. Someone has not gotten the message

One week ago, April 7, in the Oval Office at the White House.

Obama: We have been a partner there as Colombia dealt with some very difficult times and has now blossomed into a strong democracy that is respectful of human rights and is moving forward vigorously to provide economic opportunity for all of its people.

... blossomed into a strong democracy that is respectful of human rights ...

3. Where do they get this stuff? Does he know where Santos is FROM, f'r crying out loud?
Maybe Santos' PR woman handed it to him prior to his statement. Holy smokes.

What is the deal with Santos, anyway? He looks as if, were he a dog, he'd be twisting himself nearly in half, beside himself with joy, meeting someone he loves who gives him great big treats.
