Peru election: No country 'left' behind
Last week, in Peru's presidential election, Ollanta Humala, a 48-year old former military officer, pulled off a stunning come-from-behind victory.

Beating his four main rivals with over 30 per cent of the vote, Humala, who has called for a fairer distribution of Peru's enviable economic growth, scares Washington and Wall Street.

Peruvians have committed "political suicide", declared a former US ambassador to the country following the vote.

Equally unnerved is Peru's Noble Laureate, Mario Vargas Llosa, who often uses his considerable descriptive talents to render in subtle hues the anxieties of Lima's upper-class whites.

1. "political suicide"
Always with the threats. Where do they get these "diplomats"?

I have tried to read Vargas LLosa (in translation) and found him very readable, but his subject matter did not agree with me.

2. Humala is giving the "free trade for the richies" hives.
He is one of these cruel Chavistas who can and do send hives outbreaks thousands of miles with a single breath and even when they KNOW that certain people concentrated in certain known areas are allergic, they still breathe.

They are quite merciless in this. Humala was even heard saying "Let their itches scream," on an open mike, where he was breathing heavily in a northerly direction.

Monsanto is apparently developing a counter-pollen that, when released near Latin American leftists, turns their exhalations bright red and neutralizes the allergens that they expel and turns them into tomatoes. These have proven handy for rightwing hecklers who can just pick them up off the ground and throw them at leftist politicians, but special training is required to handle the counter-pollen delivery system and to improve rightwing dexterity (to pick up the tomatoes) and aim (hit their mark) and to overcome their squeamishness at the mess. I understand that the USAID has provided $100,00 grants to groups in Peru to provide this training. Unfortunately, this has been yet another worthless expenditure of taxpayers' money. The hives continue to break out whenever Humala opens his mouth and this wretched leftist persecution is spreading to all lobbyist firms, "think tanks," corporate newsrooms, corporate board rooms, U.S. State Department offices, Congressional offices, CIA hideouts and "Southern Command" outposts north of Peru, where literally hundreds of people have been seen scratching their arms, legs, heads, faces and crotches in the halls of the Empire and in its hideouts.

A pre-emptive strike on Humala venues with U.S. "smart bombs" filled with the counter-pollen is being contemplated--but the Pentagon has been unable to guarantee that they won't hit civilians who might be nearby with their mouths open shouting, "Viva Humala!" The counter-pollen has been known to cause side-effects, including prompting thousands of people to march, zombie-like, to the voting booth and vote for the leftist candidate.

:P
