FARC leader orders commanders to return to Colombia

Alfonso Cano, the supreme leader of guerrilla group FARC, has ordered commanders abroad to return to Colombia, newspaper El Tiempo Monday reported citing intelligence sources.

"The war is here and we need people," the FARC leader reportedly wrote to several of his commanders in Venezuela.

The message was intercepted on the Venezuelan border, said the newspaper.

In his correspondence, Cano was particularly harsh against "Granobles," brother of slain FARC commander "Mono Jojoy." According to El Tiempo, Cano called the senior guerrilla "bourgeois."
"Granobles," whose real name is Noe Suarez Rojas, allegedly lives in Venezuela where he enjoys income generated by the FARC's drug trafficking business. According to El Tiempo, the eccentric commander has been in Venezuela since 2007 and has claimed he's impeded to carry out military activity against the Colombian government because of "security problems."
