Venezuela detains alleged Colombian guerrilla

(AP) CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) — Venezuelan authorities say they have detained a suspected Colombian guerrilla who is sought by his home country for alleged involvement in terrorism.

A government statement says Joaquin Perez Becerra was stopped Saturday when he arrived in Caracas on an airline flight from Frankfurt, Germany. It describes him as an alleged member of the international front of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia.

Venezuela says Colombia had issued an alert through Interpol asking that Perez Becerra be detained on charges of conspiring to commit terrorist acts and engagement in financing terrorism.
