Obama's strategy to stabilize the economy and press health reform was brilliant
The media critized Obama for not following Clinton's path on reform, which would most likely have pushed health care to right before the mid-term elections.

Instead, a final bill is likely by late January.

Not only that, but it also got the Republicans to begin staking out their opposition, linking it to the 2010 elections.

Regardless of what anyone thinks of this bill, it is gaining support, and will continue to do so.

Brilliant!

4. Yes, which is
why this was brilliant. Significant benefits will kick in during 2010.

18. You mean the taxes? and the mandate?
And the small businesses that will bail on Insurance that they do now provide?? This lousy "reform" will cause great heartache to Democrats in 2010. If you claim otherwise, you must be delusional or have another motive.

I think that bugs some small minded people who
aren't interested in coming to a forum to actual
debate anything....but only to do drive by one liners
with witty snark which has little to do with the subject matter
as posted.

That could be funny, if it wasn't so deconstructive and useless.

6. "if you vote for Republicans they'll repeal Health Care Reform. "
don't think Newt Gingrich necessarily speaks for the GOP these days. But he said over the weekend that he's sure every Republican in 2010 and 2012 will run on a pledge to repeal Health Care Reform. And though he was less definitive, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnel said close to the same thing. (See video here) Now given the relative unpopularity of the bill at this moment (which I strongly suspect will change) and its extreme unpopularity among partisan Republicans, that's not a very surprising statement. What's interesting to me, though, is that Democrats started saying last week that they plan to run on the same platform -- namely, that if you vote for Republicans they'll repeal Health Care Reform.

26. As middle class Americans find their premiums, co-pays and deductables rising
and as anyone with great benefits finds them eroded due to the tax on "cadillac" plans, and as the resentment towards mandates and fines rises, we will find that the healthcare "reform" will just push people into the arms of the Tea Baggers and Republicans.

Laugh now, because it will be far from funny later.
