GOP Brown freak out. He could be next Mass. Senator and will defeat HCR.
State Senator Scott Brown, . . . had a "meltdown" in front of 80 King Philip's High School students at a student assembly. Brown had asked to speak to the students because he felt he had been "abused" by student detractors from King's Philip High School who made fun of him on their student run internet chatroom, "facebook."

At the assembly in King Phillip's High School auditorium, State Senator Brown called each student out, one by one, using curse words that every mother would be horrified to hear and would've covered their children's ears if they were there. Above the protests of all the teachers who were aghast at the state Senator's anti-social behavior and foul language, Brown refused to stop his child-like tirade calling each student out one by one in great pleasure.

If this man thinks he should be entitled to the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate just because there are only a few GOP contenders out there, then how can a man with such thin skin be able to defeat John Kerry whose skin is thin and cold-blooded already. What make's Brown think he can represent Massachusetts as United States Senator when it's obvious he can't even handle a few teenagers teasing him.

Brown is up one point in recent polling in Mass to replace Kennedy. His win would defeat HCR.

2. Don't you think this meltdown will cause his standings in the polls to fall?
I would think so, unless of course folks in Massachusetts think cussing out school kids is macho or something.

4. This happened 3 years ago. BTW, most polls have him behind by about 10.

5. The Boston Glode has him down 15 but PPP has him up one. I'm terrified.
If you live in Mass, please vote. Even if you hate Obama and HCR. Please vote.

6. PPP and Rasmussen wrong
as they were wrong in the MA primary for Prez in 2008.

The Globe poll is more solid. This race is the only game in town for the next 10 days. It gives the media something to talk about. It gives them more to talk about if they can come up with a fake "the underdog is gaining" story. That doesn't make it true.

Turnout is crucial in any election. Martha Coakley will win this race, the question is whether it will be by 9 points or as many as 17 points.

10. No, it was known before
Check out some results from 2008 here: http://www.boston.com/news/politics/2008/election_results/massachusetts_results/ Martha won't do as well as John Kerry did, but she should get to 54% of the vote or so. She will win, it is a matter of how much and where.

Also, a record of polls on the heels of the 2008 Prez primary that were wrong, especially the Rasmussen one: http://tpmelectioncentral.talkingpointsmemo.com/mapres/

This is still an excellent analysis of the MA electorate: http://www.massinc.org/index.php?id=610

My home state will NOT put a rightwinger into the US Senate. Scott Brown is this year's New Coke: it sounds like a good idea on paper but won't fly in the real world.

16. Rasmussen has Coakley up 9--with about 10 percent undecided.
I'd rate them breaking about 7-3% for Coakley, since she's better known and much more well-liked.

18. I wouldn't be so sure. Do you use the voting machines?
Edited on Sun Jan-10-10 07:59 PM by Stevepol
If so, a 9-point lead becomes a 5-point win or even a defeat, depending on what the programmers and vendors and technical support people on a mission think they can get away with.

8. one could say that he did not direct obscenities at students
he read aloud the obscene messages directed at him an his family. Yes, it was childish and wholly disrespectful, but not quite the same as his cursing out kids.

12. and what about the innocent bystanders who were forced into listening to him?
"The lawmaker held captive to his outrage many KP students who were innocent of the name-calling and foul language, and did so in a manner unbecoming to his roles as caring parent and respected lawmaker. Who among us would not be prepared to do battle against anyone disparaging and dishonoring our loved ones?

But there is a time, a tone and a context for retort and for demanding vindication.

While we empathize with Brown's wish to redress the postings, his decision to use an appearance on legislative issues to scold everyone came across as inappropriate, unjust and seemingly out of character.

Replying in kind diminished, for the moment, his stature as a grownup who should have known better."

I'm quite certain he would have lost my Nixon/Reagan/Bush/Dole/Bush-rethug mother's vote on that night.

15. Brown is down 15 points according to the Globe this morning.
Of course this story will have no traction. If Coakley had done this you could be sure it would be on the 24/7 tape loop circuit.

Senate poll: Coakley up 15 points - boston globe likely voters http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachusetts/articles/2010/01/10/senate_poll_coakley_up_15_points/

What I find actually horrifying is that this school is named 'King Phillip's School', apparently in honor of the near genocide of the Wampanoag People in 1678. But I digress.

17. Please be sure to share with all your favorite teabaggers the
fact that Brown posed for porn, at least according to the high priestess of the teabagger factions, Sister Sarah, family values, Palin.

Sarah Palin: Levi’s ‘Playgirl’ Porn is “Heartbreaking”

Sarah Palin appeared on Oprah Winfrey today and while she did tell Oprah that Levi Johnston has an open invitation to Thanksgiving dinner, she also said that the “porn” he is doing is “heartbreaking.”

“I hear he goes by the name Rikki Hollywood now,” Sarah told Oprah about the father of her grandson Tripp.

Levi’s photo shoot for Playgirl was supposedly being shot today.

Here is Levi

Looks like Scott's about the same, don't you think.
