female base. What no one seems to talking about in MA is where is that army of female Hillary voters?? Those female voters, especially the white working class women, should have been HEAVILY targeted from the get-go. Statistically they can be some of the most unreliable voters, so getting them engaged was CRITICAL. This is a chance for, I believe, the first woman Senator from MA. Where in heck is the enthusiasm for all of that dynamic here?? (I really, really hope GOTV will pull it out for Coakley, but if she does lose it, it is mainly due to a weak campaign. She should have been barnstorming from day one. Still, I have donated three times including one last time this morning, and I have called from home for her too.)

2. It is getting them to the polls. They can be one of the most unreliable voting blocks. But yes,
Hillary, nationally, did have a huge army of women in her camp, and she engaged working class gals better than any candidate in a long time given the gender dynamic. And women in general. We need to get the women out BIGTIME.

5. Hillary's pretty busy right now, I'd think, especially with the
major catastrophe in Haiti and various other happenings that may not be in our immediate consciousness.

For example, there's been an another attack in Kabul:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/jan/18/taliban-militants-attack-kabul-centre

And here's a mini-crisis cooked up by FBI:

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/

But yes, I think that those who were truly her supporters would be in Coakley's corner. If I were a MA voter, I certainly would be. That's a no-brainer.

to see a MAN who has been very vocal on DU about endorsing restrictions on women's health care sitting around putting the blame on WOMEN for not supporting the party. Women, doncha know, are all irresponsible and that's why they should bear the sole burden of paying for abortions - the slut tax. (But we'll cover their labor expenses cause good birthers aren't irresponsible sluts, I guess.)

Blaming women for not having enthusiasm for the pigs who wrote that policy is bad enough. Attributing their motives to being a Hillary supporter is the misogynistic icing on that cake.

He needs the other one to hold his you know what. Lots of fear in the party about the voters with scary lady parts. You know, the ones that as a group have always voted 56-58% for the Democrat.

I sense some panic on the part of Dems that they may have taken us (and GLBTs) for granted one election cycle too many.

9. And that is what the DEMs have dropped the ball on - BIG TIME
Edited on Mon Jan-18-10 10:24 AM by FreakinDJ
Used to be the Democratic Party was the Champions of the Working Class.

It was only too easy to demonstrate through the "Simplest of Logic" to even the stuanchist Fundie Voter how they were voting against their own economic self interest by voting RATpubliCON. However they would do it anyway based on what ever "Emotional Issues" the GOP could frame the debate on.

Now the RATpubliCONs have succesfully "Framed the Issues" as the "GOP against the Democrat Spending Machine" in light of the MASSIVE deficits and FAILED economic policy of the last administration.

Sorry - but I blame the DEMs for not distancing theirselves from their corporate handlers. Make no mistake, the RATpubliCONs will be Pure Disaster should they regain control. But the Dems failed the test when it came time to stand up to Wall St. and fight for the Working Class.

18. Well, there is a group of supposed "Hillary Girls" doing GOTV.......
The problem is that they're PUMAs (HillBuzz, TexasDarlin, etc.) all doing Get Out The Vote for Brown.

They see it as punishing Ted Kennedy for endorsing Obama instead of Hillary Clinton. And so they show their "support" for everything Hillary Clinton stands for by pushing for Brown's election rather than Coakley.

Let's hope the PUMAs in their litterboxes fail in this as well.

Darragh is trying hard to not break with her women first policy, although she is getting significant resistance from the Republican trolls she recruited as an "enemy of my enemy". The Scott Brown http://pumapac.org/2010/01/18/brown-will-definitely-get-the-stick-a-curling-iron-up-her-butt-vote">"tick a curling iron up her but"|was the real breaking point for Darra$h.

Riverchucky is having a mental breakdown

and the PalinBuzz boys (Limbaugh's Chicago babes) (they really need to use their correct name) are threatening domestic terrorism] and armed assault against the Government.

26. RBInMaine Who you gonna blame next? Blacks & Gays?
Instead of attacking women, what you should be asking is where the democratic base is, which is made up of men & women of all different races & sexual persuasions. And if the base isn't there, you better start asking why not. Coakley is in line with Obama on many issues, especially health care, so what's the problem? Thats what you should be asking.

Coakley is polling well with democratic women, but I fail to see how you don't know all women aren't democrats. Seems

awfully lame, considering what we just went through in the 2008 election. Women democrats declaring they wouldn't vote

based on gender. And woman who are republicans voting for their candidate. Women have minds of their own & are of all

different political philosphies.

I think what's happening in Mass is unfortunate & I hope Coakley wins, because Brown is a total dick...but for some reason

he is polling very well with independents. And what you should be asking, is.... why?

Perhaps, the democratic party has taken their voters for granted...lets be frank, when it came to health care, they were ready

to throw women under the bus. They were ready to throw unions, of which both men and women are members, under the

bus too. As for gays...same thing. And what about blacks? They turned out for Obama, why not now for his party? Rahm

said 'Don't worry about the left". You can't shit on people and then expect them to show up for you. Because after awhile

what one party offers you starts being no different from the other.

The best thing that can happen here is, that Coakley wins & the Democratic party got to sweat over an election instead of

taking their voters for granted. A wake up call for the future. It sure was enough to send Obama to Mass & that's a good

thing. The Party is having to listen & reach out to its base, instead of just expecting them to follow. If Coakley loses, the

chances are the Senate version of the HCR bill will be adopted instead of the House Version. That would be even worse.

And keep in mind, the Democrats were in the drivers seat and could have pushed through a better bill, even faster. But they

chose to go this route, so if you're looking for people to blame...you better start at the top.

As for Hillary...An SoS doesnot campaign for candidates. And being in Haiti is where she should have been, thats within her

job description. The UN lost over 200 people who were on their staff. She is now doing what she is suppose to do.

I'm really surprised this thread wasn't locked. It is unbelievably offensive to women.

Women are usually better at turning out in off-year and special elections.

Glad to see that they are being targeted. And it's understandable that the media isn't covering that at all.

I don't think there's much excitement to the media in covering female candidates.

Because Martha excited the female base with her stance against the stupak amendment, then swallowed whole the nelson amendment after she won the primary.

The DSCC couldn't have a dem candidate against HCR over lowly womens issues, so she toed the line.

All excitement for the campaign from the women dwindled, we are sick and tired of being taken advantage of too.

But I will still vote for her, but I aint all that excited about it.
