The only reason the "don't jam through" comments make sense |
|
and frankly I am skeptical of what I am about to say because the Democrats don't seem to have their shit together, but anyway IF
IF IF they push through a simple (yet strong) Medicare/Medicaid expansion via recon. and then do a separate reform bill that supposedly Republicans say that could support, then it makes sense.
The Republicans can either join in or tell the country that insurance companies should be able to dump you for pre-existing conditions etc etc.
If they join in, President Obama gets the victory and some sacred bipartisan bullshit or the GOP bails out and fights - very publicly fights very popular, very moral, very necessary reforms that any decent person should support.
***IF*** that's the plan, then ok, but if not, then well, this is just more pathetic bullshit from the Democrats instead of getting it done and getting it done smartly.

1. You're scope assume circular public understanding. |

Pass a shit bill or something that clearly doesn't do as much as it should and we lose alot of seats in November. After that, good luck with a reform bill. Obama and dems are in a hard spot right now. They need to pass something and it cant' be shitty.
If it's worth doing, it's worth doing right the first time. No sense in getting stuck with a shit half-hearted bill.

2. I am not suggesting that they pass the Senate bill |
|
I am just suggesting a rationale for the comments and that would be a substantial, but simple and plausible passage via recon. and then reform laws etc separately which would put the GOP on the spot, very publicly.
