And a pox on the Blue Dogs for even bringing it up! The comments section to the article is full of morons who think they personally benefit from this tax cut on billionaires. All the dumbasses who sent that letter did was provide the Rs with red meat to make this into a public debate when they could have just let the tax cuts expire with little fanfare.

57. I have to disagree there. First, he's a politician. And second, I believe much of |
|
his veering to the right is a result of calculated decisions, whether right or wrong, to enhance his election/re-election chances. Just like he started wearing the flag lapel pin during the campaign, after his decision not to wear it based on principle, he has reversed course on most things because of what he's been told is sellable to the public. Although I believe that Obama and his advisers come to the wrong conclusions most of the time, from a strategic standpoint everything Obama does and every policy decision reached is with re-election in mind, all other considerations being absent. Just my opinion.

14. It's called fearmongering about Democrats.... |
|
Knee jerk "what ifs" around DU are as popular as evidenced facts. It's a way of hating someone for something that hasn't happened yet, and isn't even remotely close to happening.
It's a fear tactic. Keeps people hating not for anything that has really occurred, but for what "might" happen according to almost no one.
The corporation's media is good at this; and those who sniff up with large nostrils, anything the Corporation's media puts out.

Why not go back to the tax rates before Reagan? 70% marginal rates? Yeah, that'll show those f@ckers, won't it? In fact, we should punish them with 110% rates! Take it all and throw then in jail for having the gall to earn so much money! Nobody should earn more than anyone else! There shouldn't be any rich people! So the next time you try to find a good doctor, for example, good luck. Do you want the neurosurgeon or gynecologist who operates on your daughter, who has $100k in school loans after slaving for forever in college/medical school and 7 years of residency training who pays $150k in malpractice premiums not to reap the benefits of a good salary? HAHAHAHA! There won't be any! Unless they are all owned by the government. Then just get in line, like at the post office or VA take a f@cking number sit down and shut up. People who earn a lot of money earn it because they have some special skill or VALUE to society, and your class hating crap is just going to discourage them. Not everyone (no one?) who earns a good living honestly is deserving of this kind of hateful shit. And NO I don't earn $250k, I earn a lot less than that, and wish I did!

18. They can't do it. The debt is 12 trillion. These tax cuts are the chief reason for that. |
|
When 17% of the country is out of work, this money to make up the shortfall can't possibly come from the middle/working/poor.
I speculated back in December that with all the capitulation, this and the planned Iraq withdrawl will likely be the next items the fascists get their way on.
Shit will seriously hit the fan if the tax cuts for the rich don't expire. That's what will send me and a ton of others to the streets.
Of course, going to the streets worked gangbusters in terms of Bewsh's MIC follies, didn't it?

Taxes on the rich will go back to where they were during the Clinton years and they will probably pass a middle class tax cut through reconciliation. Quite frankly I hope they try to pass it through regular procedure too so that they can get every single Republican as being on the record against a tax cut that helps working families.
