"Surely you can question my policies w/out questioning my faith ... or my citizenship."
This by the President just now at the National Prayer breakfast ... first time (or at least one of the first times) he's addressed this matter publicly. Excellent speech, watch it later if you missed it.

2. You may have witnessed the last "national" prayer breakfast
He didn't go along with the script. They aren't gonna want him back there saying things that embarasss them.

If his remarks put this thing out of its misery, good on him.

12. It will be interesting to see what Rachel has to say about this tonight...
... for about five minutes :) I wasn't too sure that his going was a good idea.

But he got up there and does what he always does .... shows that we can disagree with one another w/out being disagreeable and perhaps it's THOSE with whom we disagree the most that we need to be talking to ... respectful of their opinion, but unapologetic with ours.

10. The thing is this is not new..
it is the same thing he has been saying all along throughout his campaign. The problem is and has always been that he has to say everything over, and over and over again until a lot of people pay attention.

This week and last week everyone acted so surprised as though they were seeing a new Obama the only thing that was different was that they stop for a minute to listen instead of just paying attention to his color. That is what the problem is and many black people already knew this and others with open minds.

What do people think that Black people and others have been thinking all of these years as they watched white presidents. Most, people looked at them for the content of their character but a lot of caucasians can't do that because they have a sterotype of all black people and they really, really think they are superior and smarter in all areas.

How many years have blacks been in America do they really think they haven't been watching was has been going on...

11. This better not be directed at me.
I can agree with some of the sentiments of your post, but to state this as a broad stroke
against all "caucasians" is unfair. Obama has garnered alot of attention in the last week
and a half because he's taken a more assertive approach to get congress to get off their
asses and get some comprehensive bills past. While Chris Matthews may have had a come
to jesus moment after the SOTU address, most of us could care less whether Obama has the
physical attributes of his black father or white mother.

Anyhow, how you came up with all that from my post is weird.

13. Thank you!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who WASN'T surprised at "the new Obama." This is the SAME Barack Obama who declared a troop surge in Afghanistan, the SAME Barack Obama who withheld some of the torture photos etc.

His approach has not changed, he has not changed, what's changed is that he's going after the people we dont like and looking brilliant (as always) doing it.
