If FDR was President today, this is what the media would be like to him

Anyone who thinks that the media is the same as it was back in the 1930s and 1940s would have to be nuts.

Imagine if FDR lived at a time where there is 24/7 news channels than need to fill up space and make it apparent that journalism is a weakness compared to just following along with the corporate media puppets that instill meaningless stories to distract from what is really going on.

So FDR is caught in a moment where someone decides to record him touching his nose and looking like he was picking it on their cell phone. They upload it to YouTube.

What happens is basically what happens these days.



Drudge Report reports the story first. Since all the major media look at that page for their news scoops, this is where it all starts.



YouTube has the viral video online and it's a big hit! Everyone is sending the page URL to their friends around the World and tweeting about it.



John King, with CNN, has another reason to use the fancy image map to make a point about just how damaging this is for FDR. People are astounded that a President would actually pick his nose!



This of course is a boon for Fox News. Sean Hannity even invites his old reptilian ugly "liberal" sidekick to ask him why FDR would so such a thing to America's role as Leader of the Free World...



Larry King would invite religious leaders to talk about how America can survive this embarrassment to the World. Callers call in and express their disatisfaction with anyone who picks their nose, especially the President!



Faux concern and non-stop repeats of the story are all over the airwaves and the story continues even to the next couple days.



It gets to the point that nose-picking contest winners come on news shows to discuss how they think FDR is not even a good nose picker.

Then it turns out that the video was a fake and FDR was nowhere near where the event was supposedly recorded and reported on. None of the news stations retract anything and move on to the next "story".

Even back in FDR's time many RW radio commentators called him a socialist and a communist sympathiser. Many accused him of deliberately starting WWII by secretly enabling the attack on Pearl Harbor. (Some still believe this)

The idea of a US President who could not walk still amazes me.
