2. I heard he was going to stand Obama up at the airport/townhall if he didn't apologize. |
|
Did Obama apologize? Did the guy stand him up?

5. I didn't hear O actually apologize at the Town Hall Meeting, but one person |
|
in the audience was visiting Las Vegas, Obama asked if he was spending money. "Yes, sir." Obama said 'Good! That's what I'm talking about!" So he was making supportive sounds about visiting LV at least. Don't know if he apologized or if the Mayor was there.
It was pretty much stumping for Harry Reid.

12. Apologize for what? Saying people trying to save for college |
|
shouldn't be blowing money in Vegas? Does that douche-bag Mayor actually think otherwise?
After the horrendous year the American people have just been through, does that asshole Mayor think people trying to recoup their losses or save for college should be blowing money in Las Vegas? If Vegas offered anything other than gamling and partying (aka blowing ones money), it never would have been singled out.
I'm sorry that the dealers and waitresses who work in casinos might be suffering, but what when the country has been through a major recession, gambling and partying are (and should be!) the first things people pare back on.
Here's my apology to the mayor on behalf of President Obama: Go fuck yourself, douchebag.

Stated that people shouldn't go (or should avoid - I don't remember the exact quote) to Vegas (and spend money at casinos). That pissed the mayor off since Vegas exists for tourism/gambling and they didn't need adverse publicity on top of their huge downturn.

6. I guess the Mayor wants him to take that back? |
|
Understandable. Where would Las Vegas be if people didn't spend their rent money in the casinos? :sarcasm:
Seriously, it is getting ridiculous how easily people are "offended" these days. (Fauxfended?) And a mayor demanding the President of the United States apologize for something like this??? Outrageous. Just imagine someone saying something like that to the Chimperor. Makes me nuts.

Obama rubbed quite a few Nevadans the wrong way Tuesday when he suggested rolling the dice on the Vegas Strip wasn’t the wisest move “when you’re trying to save for college. You prioritize. You make tough choices. It's time your government did the same." http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/Politics/2010/0203/Nevada-politicians-slam-Obama-s-Vegas-comment

10. And that is not an untrue statement |
|
What the mayor objected to was "Vegas" was singled out. Not Atlantic City, not Reno. The mayor took it as a statement people shouldn't go to Vegas. That's what pissed him off.
I agree that if people are saving for X, they shouldn't gamble that money away in "Y" city.
