Republicans were quite happy to waste billions on outdated fighter planes yet for healthcare = zero
Edited on Fri Feb-26-10 01:53 PM by Rosa Luxemburg
when you look back over the horror show, the 8 years of Bush, Republicans were totally happy to fund war machines, infact outdated 'pork' war machines. In the health debate, each and every one of the Republicans were talking about cost, cost cost of healthcare and how could this country possibly afford health care for the 'poor'

Just look back at what we spent on outdated fighter aircraft. Shocking.

1. The F-22s are not "outdated," they're cutting edge.
In fact, the single most advanced combat aircraft in the world. The argument was simply that we had enough of them.

9. and
It demonstrated significant vulnerability to rain and excessive down time coupled with exorbitant maintenance costs. But it was a nice shiny toy for the fighter mafia in the Air Force for a while until it pretty well showed that it was a Ferrari trying to do the job best suited to a Ford F-150.Given that it's not too difficult to achieve and maintain air superiority against the Al Qaeda air force it wasn't really needed but someone got rich before they figured that out.

2. Where do you get "outdated"?
F-22 is new.
Yeah, the B-52s are older than their pilots but they do the job.

3. You know nothing about defense technology.
But, yes, Republicans just don't want to spend on the same things we want to spend on.

5. The vote on the F-22 was bipartisan
Levin and McCain cosponsored the amendment to stop production. Democrats like Boxer, Feinstein, Dodd, Murray and Cantwell all led the fight to keep production going.

6. Yes, all the members representing the Military/Industrial Complex voted for this latest boondoggle.
As is so often the case.

It's a shame poor, sick, and poor&sick people don't have the
same level of representation in the halls of "government".

8. Leave out "outdated" and you'd still have a valid arguement.
