for those 55 and up. Medicare for all is another matter, of course. That would be the public option.

The "public option" - as it was originally described by Howard Dean & Jacob Hacker - was a reasonable compromise that would have allowed the insurance companies to exist, and compete fairly.
However the insurance companies, as well as the admitted Repukes and the DINO traitors like Baucus/Nelson/Conrad/Lieberdouche/etc. have proven that they don't give a fuck about being reasonable.
So fuck 'em and do the right thing. Join the rest of the civilized world with a single payer system, and watch another Democratic landslide in both 2010 and 2012.

Medicare reimbursement rates for doctors need to go and all doctors/hospitals/clinics, etc must accept Medicare.
