I honestly don't think Obama really supports Health Care Reform
...He Compromised too much...

and in the end...I think he wants to be a ONE TERMER. His future is secure....he can go off like Clinton and Carter and "Do Good Works" making money from BIG DONORS who just "LOVE BIG WORKS" in Foreign Countrys...NOT OUR OWN. Or, he has a job with Rahm or Summers or the Rest who will be SECURE working for the BIG BANKS he BAILED OUT.

I don't WORRY for OBAMA.... I worry for WHAT HE LEFT BEHIND!

It makes me sadder every day...and gives nightmares to those who thought he might just be the antidote to DECADES OF "TRICKLE DOWN."

He is for HIMSELF...and if it doesn't work out he and his family are still GOLDEN...but those he promised much too...are all over the age groups and won't have his advantages.

But, hey...We rolled the Dice...and we Lost. There will be some mild reforms that hit around the edges, but the die was cast when he appointed Rahm, Summers, Geithner and his Attorney General. It set the tone and we should have WAY LOWERED our EXPECTATIONS. We got Clinton II after the HOPE WAS GONE from them...and it's now "ME TOO!"

I wish I didn't have to post such a DOWNER/Cynical Post....But, we folks out here in America need to be thinking seriously about how we can move forward in more creative ways than POLITICS.

All the work so many people (Democrats and other Serious) ALL ACROSS AMERICA have done Since the Tawdry Clinton Impeachement where we Defended him against the RW MEDIA, RW THINK TANKS...and to see the "Blue Dress was REAL" and we were called out.

THEN...we WORKED BUTTS OFF to Defend GORE vs. BUSH in 2000! WE HAD STATISTICIANS...and PROFESSORS and SO MANY ORDINARY CITIZENS...showing that ELECTION WAS STOLEN...CRIMINALITY....

BUT...9/11 CUT US OFF...and we were presented with a TERRORIST ATTACK that Blew Everyone's Minds...and yet we out here on the blogosphere KEPT GOING to EXPOSE THE TRUTH about IRAQ INVASION...the LIES ABOUT NIGER "YELLOW CAKE" and all the rest with SCOOTER LIBBY and KARL ROVE and TONY BLAIR's INVOLVEMENT...

ON AND ON AND ON....FULL CAPS...BECAUSE....ON AND ON AND ON...

Anyone HERE REMEMBER THOSE DAYS?

Edited on Tue Mar-09-10 06:45 PM by denimgirly
If he can say he had a poltiical win he will give away pretty much anything if pressured lightly. I mean even now with just democratic votes they could make the bill stronger and remove useless republican tricks from it but he wants to keep it out of fear of republicans getting angrier.

12. He wants pretense,
not substance. He wants to protect the insurance agencies/big pharma while pretending to reform health care.

Anything of worth in this bill could have been passed as a single piece, rather than as as part of this godawful omnibus bill.

I've tried hard to see what it all was. I'm not seeing "SPINE." It's Compromise, Compromise."

You think this will turn out okay for him? What if it doesn't? THEN: "What do we do?"

But he did and paid a price. Yeah, he doesn't want reform at all...

22. When did this "don't take HCR on" meme get started, anyway?
Edited on Tue Mar-09-10 07:44 PM by Proud Liberal Dem
Even my single-payer supporting dad thinks that Obama wasted valuable time on HCR instead of focusing other more pressing matters- like jobs/economy and for that he's apparently disappointed with him. What gives? When I asked him what more he could be doing/having done with jobs/economy after the stimulus plan/TARP, he couldn't really give me a good answer. To me, health care reform IS a jobs/economy issue. After all, the less you have to spend on health care, the more money you could be, I don't know, putting into the economy?

25. It is a made up meme by the media and worry wart Dems strategists.
He campaigned on it. He knew what it did to Bill Clinton's first few years of his Presidency. And he took it on anyway. I would say that would be someone who wanted to get SOMETHING done.

26. Stupid meme. It used to be our leaders' jobs to, you know, solve complex problems
Or something like that and, despite some people's arguments to the contrary, health care, unlike Saddam's phantom WMDs, is a REAL problem and threat to the lives of the American people. As I posted below, if Obama really didn't want to do something, he sure has a fabulous sense of humor. :banghead:

30. Depressing, isn't it?
I hear that crazy meme too all the time and it's like f***ing nails on the chalkboard!!! With a system that is as broken (and let's not forget that nearly everybody agrees that it is-even the Repubs ;-)), I can't imagine how it can be messed up any more than it already is and could actually get better. At least give it a f***ing try!!! Things can always be fixed!!

21. Wow!!!!
:wow:

Maybe he might define "reform" differently than you but he hasn't been busting his a** for nearly the past year to try to get a COMPREHENSIVE (not "piecemeal") HCR package passed through Congress. Hell, after the Massachusetts election, he had an easy "out" to simply give up on comprehensive HCR and he sure as hell didn't take it and/or give up on it even though I'm sure many Republicans thought he would have. We can debate all day (and night) about his approach to getting it done and what exactly he is proposing but he sure has a funny way of showing that he doesn't really support HCR. :eyes:

I've not seen a Politico go from World Wide Super Star to Multi-National Corporate Enabler in such a brief period of time.

President Obama's "fall from grace" on the world's stage is epic ... and tragic. :(

32. Of course he doesn't
This is not reform...this is propping up the status quo.
Rather thatn trying to change the system, we are propping up private insurance and expected to have faith that regulation will keep insurance corporations in check.
